well I think I figured out the bender. i made a little pointer that seems to be working. my bends are liitle pretty good. I bought a new digital angle finder to help the process.

one question how tight does everthing need to be? if I'm off .1* or .2* will it matter or does it need to be dead nuts? I'm shooting for 0 but I'm not a pro at bending yet.

You want to be close, but if you are not exact, you will see that as you build the car, you can adjust things as needed, such as pulling the bars closer, chaning the bend a bit, etc.

I also ordered a new bending program for the computer today from Van Sant. I tried the JD2 program but you are a little limited. I would like to be able to input angles. the new program I'm getting has that option. I cant wait to play with it.

Hello Clay,

Looks like a good start. I have the same Bosch angle finder and love it. Did you order BendTech Pro or something else? I used Bendtech to build my frame and it was a big help, everything fix exactly as it should.

if you over bend, it is easier to bend back a degree or 2 then to have a under bend, steel does have some memory to it, best thing i found was if i went over, is to put the tube in the Reese hitch of the truck and give her a little tweak back...

I did get the Bend-Tech Pro. I'm glad to hear you had good luck with it!

.1 or .2 degrees is nothing. Your tube would have to have 20' legs after the bend for it to make a difference.

Thanks for the tip BugPac!

I wish I could work more on my little project. work has been getting in the way.

while the rest of the country is down, things are looking up in my little world. the wife and I are investing in a motor sports country club here in Colorado. we are building a huge equestrian center on 70 acres of land. check out www.theringoftherockies.com
