I forgot to add I am changing the base frame from square tube to round. I like the look and I have a lot of it...

I was thinking of building more of a sub-frame back there instead. kind of like the sub-frame Yoshi builds for his rigs. I like the idea of just dropping a rear sub-frame to service the motor or tranz if needed.

PM Rorty or contact him and ask him as he is a member on the site and it's
his plans you can tell you exactly what you should do or how to go about doing it.

And you guys are right I just need glasses you do have a degrees on it.
Good, good.

have some pics of the tranny all cut up... I just need to run it through the glass bead blaster to clean it up, replace the main shaft bearings, and put it back together.

I bend my first set of tubes today!! I wish they were for my buggy. they are for the rock sliders I'm building for a client's truck. I have a few more supports to make for the sliders. that means I get to use my new drill press and tube notcher. i figured i would get another press so I can just keep it in there all the time.

is there a way to keep the bends flat? I put a level on the end and made sure it was level before I started bending. just didn't know if there was a cool old school trick someone would share. or if I'm on the right track...

site down the tube and then site the old bend going through the die.
That's about the only trick I know. Don't site off the top of the die but where the tube
runs into the die and then down the bar when they blend together that's about it.
After time your bender gets off balance or long tubes will be hard to use a level on so
siteing them may be your only way. That's what I do.

If a bend is off a little you can usually slide a piece of tube over the bend and lock the other side
into something and then twist the tube to correct them. This can also save you if it's just a small
amount of twist.

Those bends look good and cool you get to use the bender even if it's not for the buggy yet.

Good Luck on the R82s. I have my frame nearly completed, working on the seat mounts and steering column at this time.

You need a POB to attach to the end of the tube so that you keep the tube from twisting. Better yet when you need to twist the tube 23.5 deg you can do it. I made my own but you can get one from Captainfab and attach your own digital level. OFN Forums

Any fab guy can attest to how frigg’n long it takes to make something for the first time. The diver’s side took forever and passenger side took seconds. It turned out good.

I hope to be on the buggy later this week!
