If your arms are not bent close to 90 at the elbow when you sit, you're going to wear out the upper muscles in your back and in general fatigue much sooner.
Get that wheel up close and you'll be impressed w/the difference in the effort required to drive.

My arm are pretty darn close to 90. I have the seat setup similar to my rally subie rally car.

Ive been looking for a solution for a turbo on my 954, and I think I found it. a friend of mine the has a sand rail was telling me about a system called "micro squirt". it's a full engine management system. he was telling me the set up is super easy. I need to look at this a bit closer but I thought it may be a great option.
has anyone heard of this system and or used it? the wife and I were playing with the plasma cutter this weekend and I figured out that a hardboard(cardboard about 1/16 thick) template held down with old school window sealer (we call it dumb dumd, the black semi hard stick stuff) works awesome as a stand off for your template. I'll post picks tomorrow if I get a chance.

Mega squirts are used a lot by kit car and locost builders (www.locost-usa.com) and sounds like the same type of thing as micro squirt. Not sure what the difference is, maybe different model/application of the same thing.

finally got a little time to work on "FrankenBuggy". I'm pretty stoked to have the front suppension just about done. I think...
at full bump I have 4.5" of clearance between the bottom of the frame and the bottom of the wheel. full droop is in at 20" of travel. is their any way to get a bit more travel with the set up I have? I cant lean my shox much more than it is now, space is a little tight. I almost have all my tubes in for the cage, a few more to go. it should be pretty tough. I should have my tires next week. a friend of a friend races a buggy for Maxis Tires. BANG! Maybe I'll finish my other trailing arm tomorrow. thanks for all the tips!

Nice work Clay! I like the profile of the car. It's different than mine with the roofline, B pillar and back end. Really good looking.
Do yourself a favor and put the A-arm heims in double shear. It's easy to do and will be much stronger and more reliable IMO. I bought some rectangular tubing, cut it to fit and it worked out well. Notice the weld in washer to carry to bolt. Here's a picture. Last edited by Gene; 11-08-2009 at 12:57 AM. |
