Default Ok kicking this thing off one more time.

Here we go all. Im gonna do this different this time. Ill ask for help when i need it. I need to get as much info on your rear end set up Jay. Ive got a B16a2 tranny with LSD i can gut. Will that work? I also have the axles and the front hubs. I want to get with you on how you are thinking of rebuilding it so that i can do it like that the first time. Therefore taking it apart will be easier. So deffinatley get with me on it and we will fab it up to be easy to take apart. I think once i get that built ill build the rest to go around it. Im looking at the desert karts panther and thinking of widening it to fit what i got going on. Then agian i was looking at the Barracuda by Edga and thought that would be a sharp looking two seater.let me see if i have this right. As long as i split the plan down the middle and widen it there (making adjustments for tie rods and axle length) i shoud be ok then right?

So here we go. Lets see just how budget i can make a buggy and keep it safe yet sharp looking. Just be ready cuz im gonna hound the piss outta you guys for info and maybe parts i might need.

That sounds good overall. Not too sure about the 'Cuda as a two seater though. Wonder what Doug Heim would say . .

Not sure as to what doug would say. It was just a thought though cuz i like the mean look of it. To tell you the absolute truth the video of his buggy is what got me fired up a year ago to try to get this all started. Thanx for the support.

Yikes , why would you tear apart that tranny unless the gears are screwed up, that's a $400-500 dollar transmission. I'm a big fan of the D-series stuff since it's so cheap and readily available. But hey if you want to use that stuff by all means go for it. I forgot my buggy is at my warehouse, i have to make a trip over there to take some pics. I may have some on my computer i'll take a look. I also have a thread about my buggy in "projects in progress" called "rebuildimg my 440 buggy" , i think i have pics there too.

Good luck I will check back and see how it goes.
Keeping it safe is good and a first priority as I am doing with my brothers low budget race
car. Safety first. Then do everything else as inexpensive as you can.

I think you can still do things on a budget and have a good looking car.
Now mind you this is a race car where cars average 20,000 or better!
So I think us coming in under not even half that and looking good should let others re think
and maybe try doing some of their own low budget builds.

I look forward to seeing yours.
Good luck.

Thanx Jay..I got a D tranny that is toast. 2nd is gone. So its perfect for this kinda thing. I looked at the rebuilding my 440 thread and only seen a few pics of the carrier. I was wondering how you did the a-arms and the hubs in the end to make it all work. I guess you would build the a-arms to the length of a stock axle to make it so you could buy them off the shelf..right?

Where are you located? Maybe somebody here is close by and could give you a hand in person. If I was in your shoes, I would consider sticking a smaller engine like a 350 in that blue buggy. Then you could play a little, figure out what you really want in a new build, and sell it to help fund the new project. There is nothing better than seat time and maintenance to help figure out what you want to change.
