I am not giving up on the Shotgun by any means, but I want a toy to take camping to play around on a little. And I have a trip planned in 3 weeks.
I was given this roller, which as you can see is a modified workhorse type golf cart. I just picked up a wrecked snowmobile for $100, with a running 440 2-stroke. It is air cooled with electric start. I plan on adding a roll cage, seat belts and maybe some lights for now. What I really need to know is should I use both of the clutches from the 'bile or just the drive, and connect that to the driven clutch on the golf cart diff? |

With three weeks, I'd just stick with the stocker's driven and stick the sled engine in.
If nothing else, it would be a start. Three weeks - wow... You're not going to get much sleep! ![]()

Tell me about it. I am not sure if it is doable or not, but it's a goal. I have a couple volunteer helpers, but it will be tough.
After the camping trip, this thing will be parked with the chance of seeing a little more action during hunting season. It will all be on forest service roads, so nothing too extreme. I will be gentle but if it breaks on the camping trip I have plenty of help and tow vehicles tagging along. I am not too sure on how many updates this will get before my deadline but I will check back regularly for advice and help. Thanks. |

I had some help on tuesday so while they got the engine pulled from the 'bile, I worked on the motor mounts which I finished last night. Today and tomorrow are shot because I work tonight for the Salt Lake Arts Council after work. And my starter went out in my truck this morning, so friday after work I have to fix that. Saturday I have more helpers, so if all goes well we will get the motor in place and running, and get a good start on the roll cage. I will also get some updated pics of this and the Shotgun.
Any body in SLC should come out tonight to the free concert at Gallivan plaza from 7-10pm. I'll be there slinging the cold brews. Tim Fite is opening for Nada Surf. |

All right 3 weeks!
Good to see someone taking over for me while I am away and doing some builds in just weeks not years etc. So first week is about up and what do you think? You going to make it? Let us know after the weekend when you can get some more serious work done to it. Rootbeer is all I drink by the way so good stuff. Well keep us posted if you're going to finish it? Interested to see and in such a short time be careful dont forget safety like not putting in seatbelts etc. Be safe build safe. Now get back to work or you are not going to finish in time. ![]() ![]()

Thanks for the ego boost Tut, but what I am doing is nowhere near what you do. I have made good progress but as I went to take pics yesterday I realized the camera battery must've still been in the charger. But today is the day the beast will run (fingers crossed). I got the main cage finished yesterday, and I should get most of the bracing done today. I have a couple helpers today so maybe we will get it going. Just need to Run a couple fuel lines and fire her up.
I have a moment so here is some background. The kid (17 or 18) that started this project was the son of the groundskeeper at a local golf course. With not much to do in the winter, he spent his time stretching this thing about 1 1/2'. My guess is so he coud fit the motor HE HE. He mounted the motor and gathered everyone around to see his monster creation in all it's glory, and the darn thing only had reverse. He never checked which way the motor spun in relation to the diff. I guess he was pretty embarrassed and after kicking the thing for a while, had a little fun in it (in reverse), pulled the motor, and parked it. I was at the course, repairing the aluminum frame of another work cart when they offered it to me for free. So I hauled it away and a week and a half later here we are. I have the battery so I will post pics after tonight with an update. |
