Ya got any idea of target wheel base? trac? I picked up an idea on here that got me rollin' on my
buggy project,, "start from the wheels in". Made it easier for me,,,, I sure like the original design,
,for a much smaller motor of course.

yes I am trying for a 82" wide rear so it will fit in my trailer, as for the front I am not sure but I think it would be good to be the same, no?As for the wheelbase, I think I need to keep the whole thing under 10' again for the trailer. Basically the size of a wide SXS.

Yeah, I should get the tubing tomorrow night and then I can start widening it and constructing the front end.

make the front end wider than the rear by a few inches. Otherwise, the back end is going to want to come around when you get into corners. 82in seems like a really wide rear. How long is the buggy? From the photos, looks like 7-8ft. So a 6ft wide base is pretty big. Are you building it just for the sand?

thats a myth....have the sandrails out there are narrower in front, just get the right geometry and the car will handle fine...

It should turn better with a narrower rear end.

Yes the car will be almost entirely for the sand, I basically have 82 to work with for the trailer and the overall length has to be less than 10 feet but currently it is about 7 feet. I figured I needed as wide as possible as I want the most travel I can get. When you say that 82 is wide, what is the width of say a King car or mabe a short? I very much value what you guys say here I have seen some great work from just about everybody so I know you all know what you are talking about. One question, how tight a fit do you need when sleeving tubing, I have an I.D. of 1.060 but I guess I need to turn some thick wall DOM down or something to get this diameter for the sleeve unless anyone has an idea where to get that size od for the sleeves to widen the frame etc. I would just start from scratch but I don't have a bender and this allows me to get the look I am after and not need to bend anything.

So anybody else have an opinion on the width issue, I will be starting tonight hopefully on the widening and would like to know what the deal is with the front vs rear width, I was figuring 80-82" in the rear and then a little narrower in the front just for the look like say 75-78ish? What do you think? If the rear comes around in turns as in slides, I would love that as I like to drift around corners as long as its controllable. Do you think this will work? What would you do?
