I was just out in the shop working on the mounts for the backhoe on the minni...
and was wondering
when was the last time ANY of us SO CALLED expert weldors HOT STICK welded a .095 wall 1 1/4 inch tube ALL the way around...I mean ALL position including *THE OVERHEAD For me it has been years...lOTS OF THEM

I've done a little welding,not the best but welded for over 28 years. Ever thing from.040 stainless plate to 2.0" thick plate, also a few tubes, with TIG root with stick fill and cap.The smaller tubes are a beech even with TIG but with plenty of practice it can be done. A new MIG ($$$$$) would be nice to have but would be hard to justify, unless you weld a lot of other stuff. Maybe you can buy a TIG rig and use it with the welding machine you already have, that is if it's a DC of decent size.
