Default starting a build using parts from 2 john deer gators

i was out at my buddy's ranch this weekend were they have 4 or 5 john deer gators,a couple of kawasaki mules, and club cadet. *They also have 2 old gators in the graveyard. The drivetrain just need to be gone through, but i was thinking it would be easy to chop these down drop in say a 600cc or bigger engine or possibly a eco tech in each one . build a roll cage, and new subframe with independent rear suspension. they raise greyhounds out there and have two circle tracks so they would be perfect for racing, and also 500 acres of sand and red clay with a lot of hills and different terrain. *i'm just curious on about what would be a good starting point to start the build. like the clutch and the axles what to trash and what to keep etc. if anybody has any experience with these drive trains any help would be great. *my buddy has 2 little boys and we want to build them some cool little mini buggys basically that they can race around the track with and also everything else with at the ranch and still be workable.

I doubt that drivetrain would be able to handle that kind of power. You probably only want to put 50 hp in it, and that would be plenty for circle track. If you were to go more, I would suggest a frame up build.
