Default The Manco Dingo transformed into suspended Kart

I bought a dingo couple months or so ago and it was a ruff rider. *The 8hp blew a rod and so I bought a honda copy 16. *It wouldnt fit and had to redo it so while I am redoing it I am also putting suspension on it. *I cut the rear and made it a swingarm and cut front off yamaha blaster and made it 10" or so wider and this is what I have so far. *First couple are of the dingo when I got it and last couple are just a mock up of what it will look like. *Hopefully can get it all welded in tomarrow to atleast a roller I can sit in. *Still need front shocks but brother said I can borrow his off his blaster intile I get mine in. *Might just use blaster front shocks for rear too, not sure. * The swingarm pivots are just sitting there and think I have better Idea with those to run jackshaft there too. *But it is looking sweeeet. *Cant wait. *I'll keep progress posted.

Any plans for a roll cage?? Looks like a narrow track, probably only a matter of time until you tip it over. Should be interesting to watch your progress.

Roll bar is still in thinking stage but will have one. Not sure about a full roll cage or just the high seat back like originally had but either way it will have one. * I need a pipe bender. *Be alot easier. *
It is 48" wide in rear and will be close to that in the front. *My idea is to be able to haul it in the back of my dakota at a 51" with bedliner. *So the wheel well humps are already in the way but thats fine as long as I can get it in. *It was pretty narrow in front originally and I did flip it once but it took alot to do it, lol. *The high seatback did keep it from going completly over. *Now it is wider in front but will sit higher also. *Motor might sit higher also so swingarm dont hit it. *Not sure yet.

Ah very cool.
In that one photo is that all the *spare vehicles, (lawn mower, cart, quad etc) that your going to use as parts?

I see how it will go you just need one little part and the tractor is right
there or the lawn mower...

Anyways just messing around.. very cool build and great idea.
Heck the motor went anyways so you had to fix it and so what
a better way then to fix everything.
(nice new motor by the way)
Very cool and cant wait to see how this turns out.
With the front suspension you will need a roll cage and a mid rail to
tie into it to hold it into place anyways so heck you get a roll cage,
suspension, new motor.... heck a little paint and you have an all new
car.

Very cool.
Keep the pics coming and good luck.

Got the front suspension welded in today, now working on rear. *The front was pretty tricky getting it all to line up and be square. *I ended up tack welding the front together. *Then measured. *If something was out of measurement or not square I put ratchet straps on it to move it. *Worked pretty well. *Then once the front was together I welded it to the frame. Here is a picture update. *Dont have shocks but...

I got the side bars in. *Also won 4 yamaha blaster shocks of ebay, not shipped yet. *2 for front and 2 for rear. *Looks like im going to have like like 10" travel in front unless shocks limit it. *They shouldnt thought cuz if they do its a bad design by yamaha since it is just the blaster front end transfered over. *The rear should have at least 6" but is hard to say untile I get the swingarm and motor mounted. *The higher I put the motor the more travel I should get. *I dont want the motor 2 high thats why I think it looks like it will be around 6". *I have rear hoop made but not in. *It will sit same as seat back but higher and will have some tubes coming off it to help hold the motor plate up. *Well thats the news so far. *Seeya

yamaha shocks dont have much travel, you will likely have to mount them 2:1 ratio to see 10".

Well I guess I could look up the spec. for the Blaster to tell what the travel is. *I am just saying the wheel will travel that without shocks. *If the shock is the limiter seems like it would be hard on it. *Well I know it would be because of sand rail experiance, lol. *Had to reweld the shock mounts few times. * Maybe smaller ride can get away with it. I really dont need the full 10" anyways because the nose almost drags and full drop. *Unless I mount motor as high as the back of seat or extand the swingarm the rear will never get that close to ground. *I want it as short as possible to be nimble in the woods so extanding it is out and not even going to think about the motor being that high, lol.

I agree with TutTech. Thats pretty cool! Nothing like taking something that broke and fixing it and making it better.

You didn't leave much of the original Dingo which is probably good. *

Works lists the over all length on their Blaster replacement shock as 14.5". *It probably has about 3" shock travel. That is listed as "Works Stock" which means it fit the stock mounts, but is probably a little more travel than stock. 3" travel at a 2:1 lever ratio will give 6" wheel travel. Yamaha was probably limited not by the ball joints, but the tie rod ends which you have yet to hook up. That is going to be tricky too since your steering tab is under the lower A-arm.
