Oh, 1915 with dual 44 webers, cam, cb 044 heads, and the other normal bolt ons.....Never liked the stroked motors, seems every mm the crank was bigger you lost about 15% of the reliability factor...98 berrien venture chassis, 091 trans....

Hey bugpac I know of you and in the past before all this race stuff I have ordered parts from you.
Great service never actually had to deal with anyone called in my request recieved my parts so excellent service. So must be something like "Bug Pack Rat" shortend to bug pac or something like that I take it?? No hi jacking at all. I have kept an eye on your work for several years good stuff. Ya as far as stroking goes I have had 3 engines lost to racing. But I have finally spent I guess enough money to have a reliable motor? If thats even possible? I bought after market larger cases just for the larger cranks so they are tons more reliable then just cutting away at a block. Also the engine builder is Jerry from Sandrails Unlimited. He ended up costing me a pretty good penny but man I have to say I am going on my second season with one of his motors in my sand car and on my 3rd race with my race engine. Both strokers and the sand car is turbo'd and I push it hard just like the race car. So I am very happy as I had never gone a single season without a blown motor before. But now a days I just feel my VW engines need it to hang with the newer power plants out there. Thats why my sand car is both stroker and turbo. Anyways this new short wheelbase is new to me as I have been running with the big dogs for years now. Father, family, friends and work all run big V-8's with cars up to 18 feet long!! So my car is small and I could have gone smaller but the fuel cell spare tire an well my method of construction set me at 95 inches for this car. Just a fun car with an aluminum tank I could set this car up with sheesh as small as an 80 inch wheel base no worries or smaller with a nice mid engine bug box... hmm might have to work on this next and see??? I like the 95 to 100 inch range and actually I should have gone the 100 just for running over the whoops but no worries I will get it done and make it happen. Thanks alot for sharing the pics as I was wondering if anyone on here used other engines beside motorcycles. Actually I have seen that there are really alot of different engines on here. Well thanks for the input. |

Ok not a big update but I just arrived home from picking up the car from
the aluminum shop. They did a great job I have nothing bad to say and all good to say. Its after 9 at night and I am just getting home from a long day so I was only able to unload it in the dark and push it into the garage. Been a long week my car hauler was stolen just this week. Dang... And I had to barrow a trailer just to bring the car home. Anyways I took a quick pic I am sorry its pretty bad and shows no real details but I was just happy with all the aluminum work. front and back fire walls, front and back skid plates. Sides and roof of course, dash and dash that rolls onto and ties into the hood. Then rolled back corner panels that go in behind the shocks. Nice. Anyways this weekend I hope to get moving on the rest of the welding, finish the light bar, spare tire carrier, brake lines, cv's tranny, motor etc and finish the tabs on the car. Then Monday off to the powder coater. Sweeeet!! |

Ok back at it.
Its great having your project back at home to work on. Light bar is now all set up with strut arm to quickly adjust lights up and down at a quick turn. Battery box is in, spare tire mount, changed 6 tires from 33inch tires to 30inch tires by Hand.. and boy are my hands tired.... [smilie=ext_crutch.gif] Welded a ton on the car. Mounted tabs for just about everything and even set in the motor and will start plumbing it tomorrow. Anyways very cool and just a heads up that this project is still going good. Here is a shot of it just before the motor and spare went on. ![]() Thanks for looking. ![]() |
