The car looks really good and it is so unique being all boxed subframe. Good looking car too. What is the current gearing situation? Sounds like you might have it too high if you can't let the clutch out and roll away. (I think it's a 600 so maybe it's just not possible)

Very intresting rear raked suspension,, I've pondered that very thing myself after watching various
buggys running on youtube and other events. Seems that some multi link rear designs when striking a small lip, quick rise to the ground surface or rock will react rearward for a split second before moving upward. Some get some pretty serious yawing action to the rear while encountering such rough stuff on alternating wheels back there. The box stucture of the arms remind me of some of the RC buggy suspension parts. Real nice work, very intrested on how it performs. |

The link on the rear lower A-arm is a toe link to adjust toe in/ toe out. *As far as the position of the rear A-arms in relation to eachother. *After deciding on the geometry there was some packaging issues to consider. *To maintain the geometry I was after the actual inner pivots had to just be somewhere along the infinite line which goes through the pivots in the model. *I wanted to connect the shock to the lower arm for looks and to keep the weight lower, so the upper arm had to be out of the way, it didnt look like it was going to fit around the shock because that would have put the upper forward mount in the engine, so the upper arm had to go completely behind it. *For strength reasons, I wanted there to be a certain minimum aspect ratio on the upper arm which pushed the rear upper mount pretty far back, so it looks kind of funky. *
Gearing- its a 929, and I've tweaked with the clutch and throttle pedal to change the ratios, so maybe that will help with taking off in first. *I'm sure having front shocks installed will as well. *We will see how it drives soon! |

I just love the boxed arms you guys are doing......Any advice you can give a newby on where to learn to do this. *I mean I am fairly profiscient in some cad software...2D anyhow, put some general guidlines on properly designing them for structural integrity would be great.
