Hello, I thought that i would start a build log on the rail/buggy that I will be building, so far I have a 2000 GSXR 750 engine and parts to run. The engine was started today 11/25/2006 and ran awesome [smilie=non_banana1.gif]
The frame that i will be starting with is a Short Sand Car 2 seater long travel. The plan is to build the rest of the buggy myself. I think It will be a spool drive buggy for the time being. (jeffco in the future) For the rear suspension i have not decided on a 5 link of trailing arms, or on 930 cvs or u-joints, i will go with fox 2.0 air shocks in the front and rear. It will have corbeau suspension seats, and simpson 5 point belts. As far as the front suspension im not sure if i will build the a-arms as ssc dose or like el toro build theirs, and as i have said i will use 2.0 fox air shocks. Tires will be 15in razorbacks in front*and the rear will be 1300 stu or 26-12 stu still not sure here. any input you guys have on which way to go on this stuff please fill free to give your 2cents. |

The jeffco unit is designed to run with the busa powerplant centered in the car. *If you run a center sprocket carrier at first, make sure the motor is centered in the rail for the jeffco diff as your numbers are prob. different than a busa and have a removable subframe so you don't have to do any cuttin when you add the diff. *Just unbolt the old subframe, bolt up a new subframe with the Jeffco unit installed and your good to go. *
The one drawback to doing this is the center sprocket carrier will be wider than normal as most people off center the motor to the right a bit to get as much axle length as possible by making the carrier smaller. *It is possible to still run a small carrier, just make a ring that extends the sprocket more to the left past the cv's...You can just make a wider carrier if you want, you might want to get the specs off the Jeffco unit and make sure your sprocket is in line with the flanges of his unit so the motor is perfectly aligned for both systems... My subframe is removable, I could build a cage that housed a sprocket off the same current mounts... |

Thank for the tip Yoshi that will be helpfull later. My dad bought the jeffco so we can use it for mockup. |

The radial is hung on a 1930 Stinson SM8-A that my grandpa bought out of A&P school, we (grandpa, dad,&me) are restoring it is the 4th one ever built and one of only a handfull left around.
The yellow airplane is an Airtractor 402 and they have a Pratt&Whitney PT6 680hp & 1625 lb.ft. and yes it is a duster. |
