Your car just keeps getting better, good read, good photos, great work..

Argh. UPS didn't have my box. Supposed to show tomorrow, but I can't work on it until Monday.

I'll check the clutch again, but I'm pretty sure it's a 109. It's a four weight arm setup instead of the regular three arm.

- weird... I replied to this post earlier. Wonder where it went?

Oh and if you end up waiting on the body till you get out west there is a place on deer valley a few blocks east of the 17 on the north side that does wraps and could probably do the fish for you. Sorry can't think of the name.

bc - Yup, it's been a year. Where did it go???
Alice and I were sitting in the house exactly one year ago this evening when the door bell rang and I discovered a bunch of little ghouls waiting on candy. (I'd completely forgotten it was Halloween) - fortunately James and crew had not forgotten...

Body panels come off in just a few moments - there's a place locally that does the cover stuff too. I may go talk to them a little later.

Thanks Drak.

I can't wait to get out west again. It's been waaaaaayyyyyy too long since I have been able to feel the desert heat, play among the cacti and get out of Ohio.

-----------

Some of the parts showed up yesterday. I'll be able to finish the suspension mounts Monday. Then it's wait on axles, some CV stuff (boots, grease) and limit straps.

I still need to:
Finish the body panel install
Finish installing the shocks
Get the rear brakes plumbed
Pull the radiator and fix a tiny pin hole
Figure out what's up with my high oil pressure; 75 at idle, 100+ above 2K
Figure out what ohm range my water temp gauge is supposed to work with - turn on the car and it's reading 150F
Make sure the fan kicks in - let it idle the other day, but no cooling fan activation - never smelled hot or peed out the overflow

Just a few little attention to detail things and it'll be time to get out and leave black marks in the parking lot.

Waiting on axle clips. The drive train stuff and limit straps showed up today, but of course there had to be SOMETHING missing - as I've said, this past couple of weeks has moved on too well and I've not had any problems. I guess, in the overall spirit of this rebuild, that if the last little thing didn't have some sort of screw up, there'd be something wrong.

The Dez moved on it's own today! I moved it about 30', parking it out of the way for a couple of days.

I still need my brake line fittings so I can finish the rear brakes up.
Still need to fill the pin hole in the radiator.
Still need to align the front end.

I have pix - will put them up a little later (in this post)

I can't believe it. The car starts easily, it moves under it's own power and it's almost done! What a brutal year it's been.

So how much pre-load did you end up with on the rear springs? More than before? Less?

At the moment, I have less by a couple inches.

Started it up, drove it very slowly outside to check the GPS and on the way back inside the steering started acting really weird. Very hard to turn and very delayed feeling.

I get the Dez parked, get out and there's a trail of liquid where I've been.

WTF?

Looks like - egad, power steering fluid.

Sure enough the casting around the body of the pump, where the retaining clip rides and keeps the back plate on is missing about 1/4 of the casting. The pump blew up!

I can't return it - I welded fittings on the body. I'm screwed on this one.

No clue why the casting let go. It's no where near any of the welding that was done.

The pump came from Vato-Zone. Reman from Mexico. So that meands it's an OEM pump to start with, right? OEM casting?

I called Howe to see if they offered pumps for the Eco. Nope. They just modify stockers.

So now I need to go get another pump, weld on fittings to it and start again!

Damn.

But the car does move all on it's own!

Parts!

I've never seen a coating this color. Weird stuff.

Axles in - no grease, not done yet - just in.

Close up of the left side axle:

Limit strap:

It wants to go play!
