Those trailing arms are badass, just as good if not better than most class 1 cars. As always great documenting. Looking forward to see her run, again.

I agree better then some class 1 cars rear arms! Outstanding job on those and the rest of your work too don't get me wrong.

Those turned out great and the entire car is so close.
Wow a year already? You sure?? Man where did the time go?

Well cool maybe I can meet you out for a trip this year?

Oh on a side question are those shocks internally bypassed? Not sure if you said that or I missed it?

Well cool nicely done I can not wait to see her back together and running.
Keep the updates coming in as I know I can not wait to see more of your work.

Thanks guys for the praise. I appreciate it.

Tut: internal by-pass.

bdk and my buddy Steve get all the credit for these things. I just gave measurements and held onto metal while it was being tacked together.

I can't wait to get out west - so close! Was hoping for Glamis over Turkey Day... 90% chance of it not happening, though.

Spent the morning waiting on UPS - they showed up with a box for the guy that works in the same building, but not my clutch parts and tabs for the suspension mounts. Drats!

Worked on getting the left side hub installed and then set about getting my axle situation figured out.

With race prepped CVs I can get 26 degrees w/o clicking. Whew! Only have to limit travel about 1.5" overall. Being that we had 20.5" with the new arms, loosing a little doesn't hurt at all.

Limit straps will be ordered this afternoon from McKenzies and I placed my axle and drive train parts order (few cv parts, boots, grease, etc.) with Tatum. Ended up ordering 33.5" long 300M axles.

Setting up - get the axle horizontal between the CV joints and then make sure that they have about 3/8" of play in between the CV cup on the tranny and the cap on the mid-boards.

Two and a quarter inches of plunge on the mid-board end of the axle is available. I don't use this much, though. (whew):

Inside view of the mid-board w/the axle fully sunken into the CV:

The shock is not installed yet on the rear end - but I had to put everything on and take a look. Man it's CLOSE!!!

And then you walk around to this side...

Sort of looks like those cut-away models, eh?

I need to find some of that vinyl cover/wrap stuff to do the body panels with. I wanted to use some stuff from the place I get my carbon fiber and fiberglass stuff - they have a cool fish pattern that I though would be hysterical to cover the car in, but it's not a stick on stuff. It goes under glass. Drats.

I would put inner snap ring grooves on the axles to keep them from hammering into the covers/cups.

It almost looks like a race car!

Yea, I was thinking that too. I ordered a bunch of spare rings.

How hard is 300M to machine?

It's only a groove that I'll need to cut, but you know how that can go. (up in smoke, glowing red cutter, etc.)

I mount a die grinder to the tool post on the lathe with a thin cut off blade to rough them in past the splines. Then a light finish cut with a grooving tool to square up the bottom of the groove. Use HSS and low speeds/coolant on the groove tool and you should be fine. Carbide no likey interrupted cuts.......

Wow, car looks great, nice job K-fab. I can't believe its almost been a year. Congrats and hope to see a video of you ripping around the building
shortly. Then its off to the desert.

Oh and if you end up waiting on the body till you get out west there is a place on deer valley a few blocks east of the 17 on the north side that does wraps and could probably do the fish for you. Sorry can't think of the name.
