If you look at some of the web sites.......these things are unreal.....and some of the turn key cars are unreal too...at least their prices are.....my brother in law and I are building two SS2 from Girard also.....I have learned alot from reading others project logs. Start asking questions, you will get numerous returns and most of them will help you out greatly....look at some of Yoshi's designs and I am sure he would answer any question you have....he has been a lot of help on mine and others I see........post some pictures so we can see how you are doing.....and good luck......

study up on the ujoints also, talk to yoshi about them he seems to know alot about the u joint deal,i was looking at going ujoints, but didnt like what i have found out, i plan to stay with the 930 cv axles.
also alan at girard knows alot of sources of people that build his car and what frame parts they have designed.

if you need info on sproket carrier look at my post.

If your looking for some cheap rear wheel bearing carriers, 91 Nissan Sentra hubs off a front wheel drive car work great. Bolt pattern is 4 on 100 and easy to find wheels for. (i'm about 99.99 percent sure that's what I went with, it was over a year and a half ago I bought them for my first build, now I custom build my own  ) I spent 30 buck for the pair and they gave me some broken drive shafts for free. The axels, stub axels and cv's are one unit. I wanted the stub axel, so I cut the cv bowl off the end and welded a 930 cv bowl to it. You can buy just the domed cup with 930 cv bolt pattern from gear one.

awesome i like the idea of using the nissan sentra. can they handle steep angles under load? if not ill probably go the u-joint route because its easy maintenance. if i used the nissan carrier, how did you do your rear suspension set-up for that.(link, trailing arm,a-arm,etc..) once i get the bottom of the frame tacked ill start to post pics. also whats the cheapest and/or best route to go on front spindles? thanks again

You can use cv's or u-joints with the nissan carriers. I build trailing arms for my rails. Far as spindles, alot of people use quad spindles like 400 ex to save money. They are small and not as strong in my opinion, I build my own spindles.

WOW! i bet its nice to have the proper tool, money, and time. those things look very strong and light. aluminum im assuming. well i truly like the idea of the nissan carrier i will probably go that route.

how does that 600 ninja go? is it good enough power? (off topic) i would like the gsxr1000 but they hard to overcome. my friend that does tractor pulls has a kz1000 in his tractor and says a 600 is plenty if geared right. but i dont want to be the one lugging behind. i want go go fast. like i said im new to motorcycle motors

Default Cheapest and/or best . . . .

are two distinct choices BajAMec63.

You can build your own using Girard's basic design that he has posted on his site. But maybe you should review some of the other posts on the site to see what others are doing. I'm sure you can build a set with good design fundamentals for a reasonable price.

For example, my car came with spindles that negatively influenced steering. See Another Mini for details on what was wrong and what is getting done about it.

With the SS2 you will have the opportunity to build an unequal length A-arm front end. This will provide an opportunity for you to select kingpin inclination, camber, caster, rake and rack location. Simple to say and a real trick to get right. I could not do it without help from board members.

So just look at lots of front end designs and read everything you can to form ideas. Draw pictures of your ideas and post them here so you can get some help.

And remember, plagarisim is the highest compliment a designer can receive so steal shamelessly! Good luck.
