Ok well I am finishing the car...and going to keep it for a while. Just got it off the jig and the last part of it is getting tig'd this week. All the other parts, jigs etc.. are at the laser cutter getting cut or broke up and then its back to welding.

Also the Fox shocks are for sale...I'm going a different route now...nothing against fox they build great shocks but trying something a little different. I will post prices in the for sale section later.... 2-2.0x12" stroke coilover piggy backs and 2-2.0x10" coilover air shocks...make offer; can ship out this week if need be.

Default Good to see you working on it again

I know you intended to sell it and it would have been a good deal for someone with the money, vision and skills.

Spencer at Belmore should contact you since he expressed interest in my used Fox coil overs and so should have even more interest in your unused shocks.

On a different note perhaps you have followed my thread and have read about my rear shock/travel challenge. I'll PM or email with a specific question or two.

OK well the car is finally home. *Took a little bit longer than expected but its completely welded except for 2 tabs and shes home just in time to start the suspension. *Work has been hectic so its only a few hours here and there....Don't mind the surface rust, she hasn't been wiped down for over a month and this is the first weekend in a long time that she'll get a wd-40 bath.

It's really interesting to finally see a full shot of that frame. Looks great.

For comparison between your car and mine, the nose of my car is the same height as the upper A-arm pivot bar.

Nice bracing all around and on the x. I don't see any engine mounts yet. What are you planning to do for the cradle?

Thanks Gene; its been a long process, I wish I had more time to work on it. *The next car will be more planned out than this one. *The motor mounts are in the works. *We have a few ideas, I'd like to do some sort of aluminum motor plate if possible but there is nothing set in stone. *Also, looking at trying to make (whatever I end up with) adjustable since I will be running the rear sprocket for a while and I'm trying to get away from running a chain tensioner. *Should have the rear shock mounts done soon as well as the trailing arms (if I dont change them again) and the front suspension (If I dont change that again)....So far, the lower arms are going to be all plate mostly .095, .063 and maybe thinner in some areas, the uppers are just going to be tube 1.25 .120. *So many things to do, so little time *[smilie=banghead.gif]

I figured someone is bound to ask about the rear of the car because its lacking some tube so I spent the last 2 minutes doing some cad work (in paint) and this is what the rear will look like; the 2 black lines are definately going there...on both sides (Im sure if I didnt state that someone will ask about the other side), the red lines are going in to brace the trailing arm mounts and tie in behind the center in the mid bar, and the green line will be removable so I can get the motor in and out (on both sides again), not to sure where that will go just yet but will be something like that. *Hopefully get some time to work on it this weekend. *Hoping to have the chassis complete by new years....Happy holidays *

F1, that's one of the nicest and better thought out chassis that I've seen in quite a while. You obviously have a good understanding of load paths, though I wonder why you didn't directly align the upper front tubes with the hip rails.

I'm sure you've already thought of it, or maybe haven't got that far, but a couple of braces or gussets at the juncture of the bottom engine tubes and the bottom rear cockpit tube would prevent tearing that area apart.

I like your no-bullspit approach to locating the A-arm tabs. Not much room for error there!

Really nice work though. Looking at those pics, anyone would nearly think it's Christmas where you are!

Thanks Rorty, means a lot especially because you are so negative toward Yoshi * . *HAHA j/k. *I put the front bumper at an angle to give it a different look just like the rear; how that sits up instead of just flat. *Yoshi, I'll try to put the car on a scale later this week, it is light enough where 2 of us can carry it but that doesnt say much.

Well a quick little update....I stopped at the laser cutter today to pick up some parts, actually Christmas parts that need to be wrapped. *I re-drew the front suspension again for probably the 4th time now so I had to get a new rack adapter made and changed the uprights again...think Im going to change them one more time too *[smilie=banghead.gif] ....its nice to have a close friend that owns a laser cutting company and hydraulic breaks * *So here are a few pics of the parts, they are all interlocking, the upright consists of the 2 sides plates, the face plate, back plate to box it all in and also has the slots on one of the sides for the tie rod mount plates all of which is 4130. *I should get the new uprights next week with the lower arms. *
