hey, I would agree in general the tensioner should be near the rear sprocket, but I'm concerned it will stick down too far, and also the sprocket is on the inside of the swingarm instead of next to the tire so it would be too exposed I think. I'll experiment with a double wheel tensioner up near the front.

Here's the primary tensioner. Think I'll order some yellow skateboard wheels for the secondaries.

Make sure you get a harder compound skate wheel as it won't wear out like a soft one would. And possibly look for the wider long board wheels as the chain would not pop off as easy.

for some reason chain length always seems to land that 1 link off. you might want to try an offset link to get you the length you need to keep the two runs from hitting.

hey Bird, good point. I'll check into that. I think I need a tensioner regardless so let's see how much slack it will take up.

I got bored with chains for now and mounted a degas bottle and the ignition switch. Degas bottle is a battery acid fill bottle.

Also I cut some tread plate for the floor and really like the look. Only had enough for one side. I will rivet it in. Should I run a bead of caulk or RTV to try to keep water out? Or would that just lock-in any water that manages to get in?

i caulk all my floor to tube areas then drill drain holes. Might not be a bad idea to run a bead of caulk on the underside then bolt it down.

I use some 1/4" foam weatherstrip. Dont care about waterproof but does help with rattle noise. I clipped the corners under seat for draining sand.

Tensioners are a pain, what about upping the rear sprocket a tooth? I try to make something adjustable for chain. Anything the rolls on chain, makes more heat, more drag=and drag makes you slower. LOL
