Well I have sold my dirtbikes and started this ambitious project. I've studied this site and FSAE sites for more than a year. I Bought a bunch of steel and street bike parts and got moving. I've had Unsuspended sled and bike powered oval track cars, so I'm not a total Newb, but I'm a plumber, not an engineer. Thank goodness some of you are!
This car will have only 2.5" of wheel travel at all 4 wheels. I'm still designing the rear cage and engine area, based off of what I decide to do with the rear driveline. DBL "A" arms for sure. No differential, just a center inboard brake & sprocket connected by custom u-joint driveshafts and probably Toyota Camry front hubs. (my wheels are 13" with a 5 on 4.5 lug pattern) The car will have a front & rear wing, with the front wing built under the nose, for an F1 or Indy car look and function. Full fiberglass body and side pods, of course. I may use this 07 CBR1000 engine, or sell it and go with my original choice, YZF-R1. Total completed weight is around 750lbs with no driver. Have a look and I'm open to all criticisms, comments and suggestions. This suspension style is called pushrod with rockers, or multiplicators. It is simple, really. I hope the heck it performs like it is supposed to. So far, it seems good. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Nah, not street legal... That's too much trouble. This is for Oval tracks, drag strips and road courses. It's going to be really cool when I get it done. Hopefully every bit as safe as it is fast.....

Welcome to MBN and expanding thinking about these cars. You are the second person to bring "Indy" concepts to the site and I think it is good.
Tell us about your suspension design resouces! |
