Couple updated pics:

got the main structure for the new sub-frame mocked up. The engine and RPM box will be removable as one assembly for maintenance/repair etc.
Still more support tubes etc but mostly done.
Mounting the engine in the sub-frame is next.......

If you can, I would try to take as much of the bend out of those rear tubes as possible and lower the bend down so it's triangulated a little better for side to side loads, and try to add some more bracing since the unit is so narrow (although you may have already thought of that, and just aren't finished). Here's a couple pics of 2 different subframes i'm doing with the RPM for some more possible ideas, one trailing arm design(my SR2), one a-arm design(my SXS). (and the pics are for mockup, there will be additional gusseting and the tubes at the back of the one shot will be capped)...........

Side loads on the RPM? I am definitely going to add some more support, but I really need to get the motor mocked up so I don't create any clearance issues.

also, looks like you have some work done on your RPM adjuster? got any other photos?

Thanks for the input. I will post progress.

Aren't you going with a-arm rear suspension? If so, the side loads will be from the suspension on the tubing you design around the RPM.....

I designed the new upper adjuster link and sent the DXF file to the plasma cutter, should be here tomorrow I hope......

Yoshi, can you tell me more about the rear gearbox. How many HP can it handle? Also Is that stricly for chain drive or can you use it for shft driven motors? One more thing How much for the unit?

Yoshi, original setup was a-arm. I will be going back with trailing arms.

Not sure max hp ( I don't build the units, RPM does), but it has been used for over 300 with no problems, and I will more than likely be running a lot more than that through the unit in some of my projects.

It's setup for chain drive and cvt's, but that's not to say you couldn't rig up a shaft somehow.

I'll sell a the unit with whatever gear ratio your needing, with the lower mounting plates that I designed and the tabs for the frame to attach to the lower brackets, for $2,150 shipped...

I could prob. even sell you a subframe if it would help you in your design process....

ok, side loads are not as big of a deal, but if a cv ever starts to bind, it will push and pull on the unit, which will transfer to the subframe. Prob. nothing to be worried about, but as you can tell from any pics i've every posted of my stuff, I am a bit paranoid, and tend to overbuild everything, lol......
