I'm back again!

It's been a long time since i posted because of school and stuff..
Last week i worked on the engine again, this time with a friend of my who knows more about engines then I do.

And the engine started!!!
My big mistake was that he needed more fuel and my home-made fuel tank was not attached on the right way so it leaked to much

But after giving the engine like 0,5liter of fuel and trying to start for a long time.. the carborators filled with fuel and eventually it started!

But it is leaking some cooling liquid and maybe a bit of oil so that are things that I need to fix.

I've worked a bit on my buggy this week... Ran against a couple of problems

I'm busy with placing my differential with a small frame that holds it and that will be holding the plates for the suspension arms at the back.

But making it removable, strong and on the right position is really not easy! The diff has strange measurements for example.

But it gets bigger with the diff than I wanted, so now i maybe can't place my engine..

Also it's a big mysterie how i must attach the diff to the engine

Maybe someone has some tips? I discovered that I haven't got a good exit at my engine.. hard to explain...
I have a cardan driven engine and thought I would get a exit where I could mount a sprocket.
I also will/want to attach a sproket to my differential and connect these at the engine with a chain, the same thing that XSfun did with his ST2.

But my engine is to big to fit into place and as I can see now, I can't get a sprocket mounted

I hope someone has some good advise

I also created a jig for the front suspension arms, I allready finished the lower arms and now i'm busy with the upper arm jig.

I'm assuming that a 'cardan' engine is a shaft driven engine? Can you not turn your engine 90 deg, get a spindle machined to fit over the output a just run a short drive shaft to your diff. If you start with sprockets you get into ratios messing with your diff. The diff ratio should be stamped on the Crown wheel inside. You should get any ratio sorted before going down the sprocket route. I have seen bike driven cars with the above drive shaft set up.

Snowy,
I think you are right. A "cardan" is a reference to a cush drive setup.

I'm sorry I thought that it was English also!

It's shaft driven indeed!
What Snowy means is exactly what I want to do but my GSX1100G engine has a very different output than i thought/hoped.. I wish that I had a image to explain.. If i have or have found, i will post it!

I want to try the same as the Badland build of XSfun or 750 Varago... But i don't think that is possible

I did some work on the motorcylce last weekend:

I started to disassembly the thing, part by part.. very nice work!
Tonight I hope to get the engine out, it's still mounted with 3 bolts left.

The engine is very heavy and I don't have a winch or something.. so i must look how to do that..

Then I can start cleaning the carborators and get a new air filter in stead of the standard big black box.

When i got the radiator off, there came poison black coloured oil out of it!
Also on the bottom-side of the engine.

Does anyone know where I can find a 14" Rack & Pinion trough a webstore in the UK?
If i get it outside Europe, it will cost me a fortune to ship and import it

I'm sure you've posted before, but what bike is that?

Reason I ask, is that you say you got a nasty oil out of the radiator.

Looking at the engine, it appears to be, maybe, an older GSXR? If so, there is no water containing radiator. They were strictly oil cooled way back when.

Yes, it's a Suzuki GSXR 1100G from '92.

Than that is the reason there came oil out haha.
I expected water or cooling liquid and there was the oil... I like: wtf?

Haha Strange when you don't expect it.

I still need to buy the workshop manual.

LOL!!! Yea, it's an oil cooled engine.

I'd probably look into a larger radiator (maybe just plumb in a second one?) and run a fan on it.

The bike engine in the buggy will probably run a bit hotter than in a bike. They (manufacturers) work pretty hard on designing the faring to duct air in through it, so keeping air flow over the rad(s) is important.

The bike doesn't weigh as much as the buggy either so the engine doesn't work as hard in general. Not that a bike engine can't be thrashed in a bike, just in general, it's easier to push a two wheeled bike around than a four wheeled buggy.

Should be a good power plant, though.
