Hello!

I'm back from my holliday and have some spare time before I got very busy with school and so... Time to build on the buggy!

I'm now working on the plate where the pedal box is mounted and where i put my feet on.

The plans say that I need to cut the plate so i got on every 4 sides and around the belt-mount 10mm/1/2" spare room.

My question is: Is this clever? I think that I always get dirt, mud and stuff between them and it looks nicer when I close these gaps? What do you guys think?

I made an Illustration but my Adobe Illustrator is nog coörporation
I hope that you know what I mean without illustrations.

Erwin

Today I have done a lot!

I bought all the Iron that I need and started my chassis.
I bended everything that needed to be bend, with an borrowed bending machine.

And then I started with the chassis... but that needs some time.

Also, i received my Tube Notcher today! I have searched a lot but couldn't find one in The Netherlands... It's hard because 'Tube Notcher' is the only name i know from it and that's English. Eventually i found one and that's really an great invention!!

Here are some pics.

I keep you guys updated..

Bring on the comments, I love to hear them.

Thanks!

Yesterday I made some more progress. Not very visable because it are the pipes that are on the previous pictures but they are well attached right now. On the pictures above, they are only holded in place.

Hahaha and if not said allready:
Dón't look at the mess

Hello!

Another update!
I have bought an engine at eBay!
It's not 100% sure until sunday afternoon but little chance that it will change.

It's an 2006 Suzuki GSX 750W.
It's an engine from an bike crash, the bottom cartercap is damaged and missing so i need to find a new one for that.
It only has 2500km on the gage!
(That's 1550 miles)

The price is a bit outrageous: €150
(That's 205 US dollar)

But one 'small' problem: The engine is in pieces and I don't know a thing from engines
But I have friends who can and will help me with this so that will become allright!

Now the biggest problem...
I have chosen to use an differential, this is cardan driven and another angle than the (chain driven) output of the engine I have

I think that there isn't enough room for the engine when i turn it 90 degrees to chain driven the differential ánd the buggy will run backwards

Anyone who has an solution for this?
Or some pictures of other familliar problems?

I will post pictures when I have them!

Erwin

Update time!

The forum was unreachable for days..?

I have bought the engine, my dad wasn't pleased to hear that. Hahaha..
It came in hundred pieces and I have never seen an engine in my life.
That will be an adventure!

I downloaded the workbook on the Internet, it's in German so it will give me some problems too haha.
I placed some pictures of the engine.

I miss the upper carter piece but i spotted it on the Internet.
Problem is that is €40,00 (55 US Dollars) and i will need to drive a bit to get it.

I concider to sell the engine I have now in pieces and then get some money of it, and buy an wrecked or old motorcycle and steal the motor of it.

Update about the frame:

Last week i worked several times on the chassis and could do a lot!
Now it's so that the chassis is almost finished.

I just need to attach 20 pipes and get the bottomplate-, seatbelt- and pedalmounts placed.
Ánd to make an frame to fit the differential in the buggy

Step by step...

I need some help..

I'm almost done completing the chassis and want to continue with the suspension.
I have my drive axles from an car: a Opel Omega from 1993.

The length of the axles are longer than the A-arms that the Badland plans discribe.

What should I do?
  • Lengten the A-arms, and with that, the front suspension too?
  • Shorten the axles?
  • Build my own custom-made axles with the right lengths? This because of the big clump on the buttom-end of the axle? That is a bit inconvenient.
Please some ideas/tips and/or examples
