Default Re: Desert Stadium Lite (Fronts a Roller!)

Hi im new here in this forum. this frame u have is nice. i have been looking every where for something with trailing arms up front. if u start selling the frames how much and r you going to make a 2 seat frame. i grew up on sandrails with tailing arms on front n back. i bought a baja bug for $500 n always like the mini buggies with motorcycle engines, so the parts i have on the bug can put it on this 1. i was thinking getting a rhinombut i dont have the money to buy it but with this one i have the parts. im also looking for go karts with the same style front end for my son and also 2 seater. i like the trophy karts but there to expansive n if u build 1 that looks like this 1 i'll buy it 2. do u have a pic of ur race car. i like desert racing to. i live in the imperial valley and they have races out here. i also go to the races in mexico n go to the baja races. thank u n the car u build is what im looking 4. cant wait for u to finish the bug.

What's going on with this one Tut? I think this could be a real winner at the price mark you mentioned before. I think you could pull a nice portion of the china market. A 250 china cost 4000 for a better one. The 650 and up is around 10 grand. Let me know what your doing. I like this.

Thanks guys. Well I actually sold it to someone who is building it as a project and hopefully one day we will see how it turned out, as they are a member of the minibuggy site.

I do build these and I can build them in a two seater. Able to build it for motorcycle or VW engine etc. in different sizes to meet your needs.
I build on the side of my job and I enjoy doing it. I like to see others build and enjoy off roading as much as my wife and I do too. Plus building frames etc. helps pay my wifes entry fees and parts etc.

For all the photos of all the cars and different projects I have built please visit my site here.
TUT TECH RACING

You are welcome to post at my forum and ask questions etc. I would enjoy building any project you are looking for. I can custom build just about anything in VW style and I am working on and getting closer to having my a arm cars ready soon. I just don't want to build something that I have not tested and have not worked out the bugs etc. I don't want bumpsteer on my cars.
I have built a arm cars with Mosebillt but I am designing my own and working on them.

But VW beams I can do right now I have both front and rear fixtures to set up all the VW style stuff
you could need so you can bolt your parts directly onto any of my VW style cars. Factory style VW
parts bolt directly on so you can buy parts off the shelf. Very cool. Makes repairs and upgrades easy
and awesome!

Send me a Private message or contact me on my site for more info and I also hope to see more of
this car soon.

Thanks,
Tut.

After asking you about that test frame you sold, I went to your site and saw this car. Might be exactly what I am looking for for my wife and daughter, since you say you can build as a 2 seater. How wide would the pass compartment be in 2 seat form? The VW front and rear is very attractive since my last sandrail was 16" travel beam, and 19" rear with 3x3's.

Fu21cc,
I asked him to post pics when he can and no he is not done. He is actually a very nice guy and bought it to help a young kid out who works at his shop who does not have much money and his dad does not work. So this is a great thing that he is doing. But I will let him post more when he has time and when they have the funds to finish it. But no not done yet sorry.

Turbolark,
As for the cab it depends on what width beam your going. If you stay stock I would stay at the 40 inch width for the bottom outer rail bars and 52 inch wide mid rails at 22 inches tall on the sides.
This works great and you can fit suspension seats etc in and still stay shorter and not rub your tires.

With some aftermarket longer trailing arms and buying over the counter parts you can get realy close if not hit the 16 inch travel with this set up. The tie rods might be your only trouble limiting you. You can get some nice coil overs or even air shocks and have a great riding little buggy. Super cool.

You can do exactly as you said and do some 3x3 rear arms then depending on width and type of cvs again you can see the 16 inch range or more.

If you don't have to much trouble with the width of the vehicle push it out as it will be a little safer and it will gain you will travel. If not no worries you can still get close to 16 on all 4 corners with some decent parts and a good set up.

Basically you would be looking at something that looks a little more like the my dual sport or my sportsman race car if you wanted two seats. Just smaller. Then depending on motor etc. again smaller.
See El Diablos post for his car. The difference would be it can be built in either 1.5 inch tubing or 1.25 tubing and I can actually make the wheel base and over all size smaller.
Here is the dual sport

And here is El Diablo's buggy.

I would guess that the 2 seater would be a lot like those just smaller.
Thanks again for the questions.
Tut.

I'm looking for pretty small. Sized like a Polaris RZR S. 60" outside of tire width, 105" overall length. I need it these dimensions so that I can fit it on the trailer sideways, and still get my Desert Dynamics car on also.
this car of yours with a wider cab would seem to fit the bill nicely. I like the ability of the beam to be cost effective at first, and get wild as the need aises. My last sanrail had a 10" wider beam, 4" arms and 3" lift spindles for 16" of travel Was a nice setup.

Depending on the motor this is very duable. If you want VW motor and tranny I don't believe it is possible. I have done an 11ft car before with about an 85 inch wheel base using VW parts.

I can do some math and let everyone know what would be the smallest you could do and see what we come up with. I will have to probably build some custom rear arms to make them go back behind the tranny and make your axles point back towards the motor to put the tires under the weight of the motor also so the thing is not a wheelie machine. Some lift under power is fun but not keeping it on the ground and no steering is no fun.

I will check into this, give me about a week to come up with the numbers.
Thanks again.

I'm looking at it 2 ways for the motor. I have a 2002 raptor with a 686 built engine. Was gonna stick that in it with a protodie rear and do rear a-arms to keep it as compact as possible. The other option is an Ecotec and cvt+ fnr box. More expensive this was for sure, but more room to grow i think. Ecotecs are easy motors to build(had a 400hp turbo one in my last rail), and I have a couple of them laying around here in pieces, so thats easy, but the cvt and fnr box is pricey. I have no interest in a rear engine/transaxle setup at all..lol. I have a good program for designing suspensions and plan to design that part once i know what dimensions/room i have to work with, although a trailng arm would be a nice simple build as long as it doesnt make the package too long.

If you want a frame set up at 105 and you fit everything into it then yes that is an option. You may have to go the raptor motor do to the smaller motor cage section. But if that is something your interested in sure that can be done. Then make a arms or trailing arms etc. and your all set.
Send me a pm and let me know what I can do or help with on this project.
Thanks, Tut.
