i just bypassed the kill switch and wired the coil directly to the stator so there shouldnt be any problem there

check the voltage with a multi meter and see if there is voltage going to the coil, dont try and test the coil itself, you will smoke the voltmeter...Then check the resistance of the main wires on the stator, there should be some tech specs somewere... to set the points you find the specs, say they are .30 "For Example Only" , you then put the points on the highest point of the cam so they are open, you adjust them to the spec, ie .30, then your good to go, are the points burnt at all?

Good call Bugpac - Points are cheap and more likely to fail. Start there. Also clean the existing points just to check before buying new ones?

man i hate the prices for parts on fl250s!
i just paid 60 bucks in parts to fix my pull starter
luckily mine come with more spare parts then one could want, for the 450 bucks price to buy the ody i could probably cell the parts and have a close to free odyssey. i beilve i have one of those sitting around in my garage, it is used though and not sure of its condition. if ur interested tell me and ill post some pics.

Atleast they made the FL250's a couple of years, I hate buying parts for my FL350 since it was made only 1 year.
