Default Re: 1980 Honda Odyssey FL250 rebuilt help

I just ran into a similar problem with my 1982 fl 250. My issue was a fuel delivery problem in that the diaphragm pump failed I think one from a snowmobile would work, but I cheaped out with a fast fix by mounting a old snowblower gas tank above the carb, with an in-line filter, and now the carb is gravity fed. Man, what a hoot, the thing runs awesome.
This is my first post, I believe, but I've been keeping an eye out here. Not a very active fl 250 area but it's still alive. Some very valuable info here to keep our 25 year old babies alive.

i run a gravity fed fuel system with an inline filter too and the only problem i have is the gas tank is pretty small and it sucks when you have to walk

Ha! That's so true! That exact thing happened to me not 10 days ago. It seems my fl 250 burns as much fuel as a Hummer (seriously) but the fun factor is way up into fatgirl/moped territory. I can run about 40 minutes before a refuel. I feel this gives me an opportunity to take a leak, overcome my motion sickness ( driving it feels like what those astronaut training things might be like ) and for the engine to cool down.

you would think that a 2 stroke would get pretty gool gas mileage but in this case its totally wrong
me and my friend had to ride back to my house on his 4 wheeler to get me some gas
