Another 350 motor.......
Anything that uses a CVT is going to be easier to install than something non-CVT. Size also needs to be seriously considered. There is no need for a 100 hp engine in a buggy that isn't designed for more than 35-40. |

440 is about it. And how bout you actually RIDE it before attempting to put a new motor in
or maybe sell bugs frame......fix the 4runner...........just ideasIn all seriousness, don't fart with that one. Its a really nice clean ody, and for what you paid, you'd get more on ebay. Enjoy it, see if you truely like the sport, save your pennies, and buy a pilot when your ready to upgrade. You need something you can buy replacement parts for, if you don't want to take up the hobby of fabricating. When our buggies break, and they always do, we have to make the parts to fix them. Plus the suspension is a bigger issue than the motor on the odys. Save up, find a decent pilot, and then when and if you out grow that, swap a sled motor into a pilot. |

I would think a good built 350 to 400 would work well as long as the suspension can handle it. I learned years ago that suspinsion than power. I better handleing machine can usally out prform a better powered machine with poor suspion unless its a drag race. No fun there after 300'. Sorry no witty humor or effect like the rest just a back yard hacker. Might look at power to weight ratios and max rpms. A twin will have more rpm than a single with effective BHP using a cvt. Faster it spins ( rpm)at max run *out( on clutches) more top end speed. Just a thought. P.S. Can some make a cool BYH symbol.

I thought Dave had more wins with his CVT Pilot than the MC powered ones. Someone with a stop watch at I-96 said I was running slightly faster lap times with the Red Formula Cross bug now owns than the GSXR buggies were. Quote:
For the comment about buying a Pilot in order to be able to get parts, you can still get all four 350 fenders new, unlike a Pilot. The parts I have heard about the most lately are rear brake caliper parts which are shared between machines. There are far more 350s out there and people are more likely to part them out. So there are far more used parts available than there are for the Pilot. |
