Default 78 FL250 light question.

I just went out and bought a 6v 30w headlight for my 78 FL250 and hooked it up and everything works well with it.
My question is: Am I able to go buy another light 6v 30w and hook it up as well and run both of them on this 6v system? Or is there a way to convert this machine to 12v?
Thanks in advance for the input.

if your picture is your ody, half cage and yellow, pre 1980 then you have a 6 volt 30 or 35 watt system. the newer fl250s, red full cage, have 12 volt systems. this is what i believe.
on my odyssey got two cheap lights from harbor freight that are fog lights and 35 watts each. they were 8 bucks with all the wiring and a switch so i couldnt resist. i bought a battery off ebay for 13 bucks shipped so i have 21 dolars in this. my battery should be here soon and then i will wire them up and see how it goes. my grandpa was an electrical engineer and he helped me do the math and i should have a little more than 2 hours with both lights on and no charge going to the battery. i stil have the stock light hooked up running off the ody's stock alternator. if my two fog lights are bright enough im going to wire my stock headlight to go to the battery instead to charge it. im not sure if this will work and ill have to consult my gandpa and he will show me how to work the numbers out.

IF you do a lot of dark riding and NEED more lights run a samll alternator off the rear axle via a simple pully. You only need more lights while moving right? The alternator will be spinning then and help light the way.

You could mount a small 12 volt battery and two 12 volt lights to give you more light. Then just feed the alternator into it. Just keep the lights off when not moving or not on for long when stopped and it will be fine.

You also might have to search but if you can find 6 volt LED lights that throw a good beam they tend to use a lot less current. 12 volt ones are all over but I am not sure about 6 volt LED lights. Have to search for those.

Or get flashlights with LED lights and a nice reflector that use a 6 volt lantern battery OR four D or C cells as they add up to 6 volts then wire them up and waterproof the wiring with silicone or something.

There are some pretty cheap killer 6 volt LED flashlights if you look around. You would simply have to make the mounts for them.
