well i mounted a fuel cell above the carb onto the frame and it does fine, its gravity fed all i have between the fuel cell and the carb is an inline fuel filter.. got rid of the stock pump and t just cause it was always a hassle and i have had no problems with this setup!

If it were me... and the stock tank was in good shape I would rebuild the pump. The rebuild parts can't be very much money and it's easy to do. Put new hose's on and check for vac leaks.

ya if your tank is good. mine was rusted to hell i rebulit my pump and yet my ody just kept bogging down and dying. so i just finally scrapped the tank and bought a fuel cell
