Default Hayabusa questions........

I have a 2006 King sand car with a NA hayabusa motor. I bought the car used and have some questions.

How do I tell what year the motor is?

What spark plugs should I use? It's a stock engine with TRE, header and K&N style air cleaner.

I am in the Portland area, are there any dyno tunners here localy than can tune using a power commander?

Thanks for the help.

King may have a record if it was bought as a turn key

I use Iridium plugs in mine

I live in Florence so let me know when you plan on coming down or if there is anything I can help you with as I just updated my mini to a Boosa in the last year

Weclome to MBN!I'm in Vancouver and several other members are here in the Portland area and north in Puget Sound.

I believe the serial number will lead you to the year. I had Goldenchild of Cloud Nine tune my car on the dyno at Loynings in Portland. Goldenchild is on Hayabusa.org. Call Daniel (Goldenchild) (503) 663-3278.

If you go the dyno route plan to spend 800 - 1000, maybe a bit more.

I agree check with King they should have a record, if they dont pull the number off the block and check by that. Or look at your injector harness if its round I believe its 2002 and newer square 2001 and older. Or you can pull the starter number and cross it over to the appropate year. They only used two style starters. One for the earlier years and then of course the later years. And finally pull the number off the CPU and use that as a cross reference. With all that said, I do believe that king only used 2002 and newer busa motors, if that helps.

As for the spark plugs stock NGK's are fine, off the top of my head the are a CR9E. The irdiums are good to but youll never notice a difference in power one way or the other.

And Gene's right about the dyno tuners.....IMO if your just running a k&n, header, and TRE you can use one of the programs that powercommander has on there web site. They wont be setup for the style header you have but will get you really, really, close to what you need.

BTW welcome, And if your intrested in riding with some people let me know, the El Toro group usually rides the dunes at least once a month.

Thanks for all of the info. So far I have been concentrating on dialing in the suspension and haven't really done anything to the motor yet. The car wasn't set up to go through the woops and most of the duning I do is at the Coos Bay area so running throught the bumps is a fact of life. I would like to add a turbo at some point but I am also looking at a reverser box also. The only time I wish I had reverse so far has been in the camping areas. Out in the dunes it hasn't been a problem.

I will be at the beach this coming weekend, either winchester bay or the coos bay dunes. If any of you are planning a trip down let me know. It's always nice to meet new people to ride with.

Here's a picture of my car...

Thanks, I got the car last year just before labor day weekend. The guy I bought it from goes to Winchester Bay most of the time. I have a friend that owns land at Hauser which is where we go most of the time with a trip to Winchester Bay or Florance later in the fall. I managed 4 trips last fall but have only been out 3 times so far this year. If our group goes labor day we will be at the Hauser spot.

According to the builder I have the only King car in Oregon. I haven't seen any other motorcycle powered cars since getting mine so it would be fun to get together.
