I always was under the impression the computer regulated psi in the oem pump, it is common practice for a lean running motor "mini sprint" to raise the fuel pressure thru the powercamnder to compensate....

You can still use you regulator on the stock fuel rail if you retain the stock rail with this pump. I like the bosch pump becuase it is completely wraped in rubber for vibration isolation. It looks similar to the summit one but with a nice rubber exterior. Kind of like a fuel pump coozie. You run from the tank, through a GOOD filter, to the pump, to the regulator, and back to the tank with the return line. You should have no problem with the stock regulator. Im shure I have seen an aftermarket adjustable reg that just replaces the stock one if you are that concerned about it. I will see if I can dig it up online.

Ok, I just checked the Repair manuel specs for the PSI

Fuel pressure
324 kPa (46.1 psi) (3.24 kg/
cm
2)

I didm't see anything about a stock regulator. I'll go back and double check.

Great, So it would be safe to say, All I need to do is buy one of those fuel pumps from Summit and a inline fuel filter before the pump and I'm set

Thats it. Not as complicated as it seems. I know its expensive but steel braided lines are a must for the pressure and off road wear and tear. to connect to the fuel reg you can get a steel #6 an adapter and tig weld it on as well as the return line. And dont forget to vent the tank. With a high flow of fuel and poor venting the tank will build pressure rapidly.

Yes, I plan on doing the steel braided lines everywhere.

Since I have all you guys here and the Fuel system is now put to bed.......
...Do you guys know anything about the cooling system??
I want to go with this radiator Griffin 1-25241-X - Griffin Aluminum Pro Series Radiators - summitracing.com

Then having local radiator shop add the extra bung for the oil cooler line.

What do you guys suggest. It's going to be a rear mount, facing forward not sideways. with dual electric fans.

Thanks

This board just rocks. The link on the summit part with the barbs led me to exactly what I was looking for and the reason I knew about the $200.00 Bosch pump. This is the exact one Carter GP5000 - Carter In-Line MFI Fuel Pumps - summitracing.com (right down to the funky wiring attachment of it) that I currently have that needs to be replaced.

The local speed shop could not figure the manufacture and the part # was of little help. The local auto parts store had no idea. Mine has steel braided line so I know this one accepts the fittings and might be a better choice than the one with the barbs. And as an added bonus I saved 75.00 over the Bosch at OutFront. The things you can learn here.

I ran the stock one with a 12" fan behind my seats and never had an issue. Made plumbing it real easy. You may also want to see if you can find the yamaha race harness. It comes without all the unwanted wiring like brake lights, kickstand switches, and so on. I dont know if you have an exup valve on your exhaust but if you do you can remove it and put a resistor in the harness to replicate it.
