Default Busa oil pressure

I keep reading about the low oil pressure on the Hayabusa and I notice that it really could be higher so being the worry wart that I am I was wondering if anyone is using APE'S $109 overdrive oil pump gear?
I'm new here so forgive me if you have beaten this to death already

Do I need one?

From another site I frequent I'd say it's cheap insurance but the other line of thought is that you can over pump the sump with one. 6 of one and 1/2 dozen of the other. The important thing to do is keep the full 4 quarts of oil in it and run an oil cooler. And if you run an oil cooler of a larger oil capacity than stock that you add the necessary amount of extra oil to the 4 quarts in the sump.

Also never let the busa motor just sit there and idle for an extended period of time, I hear the crank bearings will be the first to go. And make sure your idle is set to at least 1400 rpm....plus if you have it use the high idle option to warm it up then shut it off till your ready to go riding.

Hmmmm, I never heard that but seems like good advice. Especially the high idle.

I have also heard the stories both ways. Have you every heard of anybody overpumping the sump in the motor? It seems to me at 10000 rpm it could suck it dry specially if your on a hill or at a bad angle.
Also does anybody know what the difference would be in GPM's for a stock unit to the HV oil gear?
I have a stock unit in mine and do monitor my pressures. With said stock unit the car hasn't to my knowledge run dry. I do have two idiot light on my dash that trigger off the stock low pressure unit if pressure every does drop off. And I have never seen them go off....ever.
So it seems to me the stock unit will and does work fine. But will it hurt to install a HV gear, I dont know, once agian I have heard both side of the stories. I think if I did do a HV gear I would also do a new oil pan and a swing style oil pick-up. Just for the extra insurance.

My 2 cents worth here.I'm not going to change to a HV pump.I feel that the best plan is to run a fairly large oil cooler with a thermostat bypass to maintain oil temps in the proper range.Too cool is not good either. If running a turbo the best thing would be to run a dedicated oil system separate from the engine oil supply to minimize oil temps in the first place. The stock oil pan will be fine unless you're going up a VERY steep hill.

Your flow rate through the motor will not go up that much with the pressure increase. The flow through the pressure bypass back into the sump will increase, but I wouldn't worry to much about that. What I would worry about is the bypass being able to handle the extra flow. Not enough could overpressure the system at high RPM's.

They're high volume not high pressure. The bypass is capable of the additional flow.Problem is that many guys will run the busas a qt low and then the trouble begins. The stock pump is up to the task of oiling it.

I just don't like the low pressure at idle this is my only concern nothing else worries me
I'm using Amsoil M/C oil and filter and a stock oil cooler tilted away from the header

I'd only suggest you use a full synthetic oil.
