One thing not mentioned is fueling. How are the fuel requirements going to be managed? I also agree that you'll not get 42 hp from it. Personally I would have a turbo period. But if someone wants a supercharger there's nothing wrong with doing so. IMO the thing to be wary of are overstated claims of performance.A buyer should also be an experienced tuner or nothing good will come of a home built system. If you're not a good tuner I'd say stay away from either.Just my .02

Good question, looks like a blow through system. Unless it's an EFI engine, there could be all kinds of bad things going on with it. Even on an EFI system, most of them go into default mode with the MAP sensor goes over 0.

Just bolting on a hairdryer will rarely give good results unless the system is specifically engineered and tuned to the application.

Imagine the possibilities if you daisy chain more leaf blowers?

The 10 HP per psi thing is wrong, if the engine is designed poorly enough, and flows air poorly enough, that much boost could do what they claim, the average V8 in a street car picks up like 100 from 4-5 psi and that is typically nearly double the factory output and the cars today are much better than the 800cc lawnmower this is going on, really think about it 800cc and 18HP?? Pretty lazy motor for sure! Just my $.02...
If I read your post right, you are saying most V8s are only around 100hp from the factory because an increase of 100hp is double what it had. If it had 300 HP and you added 5psi of boost to get 100 hp, that sounds about right to me. You'd get about 24hp starting with 18.
