I have what maybe a dumb question but here it goes.... *Due to the exhaust pipe, I'm having trouble fitting my zr 600 efi motor into my buggy. *Since I will be using a reverse chaincase could I just mount the motor backwards, so the exhaust exits to the rear of the buggy and then run in reverse to go foward?? *I haven't gotten my chaincase yet, so I'm not sure if reverse is geared differently. *If this is possible the motor would fit perfectly. *Another question since the chaincase isn't going into a sled does it matter which one I buy? *I apprieciate any light you guys could shed!

Most chaincases won't be able to handle to load in reverse. They are usually built pretty light. Also, you want to get a box that is made to handle enough power for the engine.

Most chaincases are direct connected with a coupler for forward to handle full power and had a reverse idler to spin things backwards when the forward coupler disconnects. Sending a lot of power thru it in reverse for a long time and it will cause issues. I have seen my friends abuse reverse on some sleds to amazing levels but it was just back and forth to get out of a jam. Never for extended length or speed. *
If you get a different case take gear ratio into effect. I know you will have to gear it deep after the chaincase but many are very different. Bill
