Would a clutch like this work good?[url=http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Polaris-TEAM-secondary-clutch-XC-RMK-Pro-X-IQ-Edge-NR_W0QQitemZ220180180780QQihZ012QQcategoryZ100453Q QssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem:3s2uask8]ebay[/url:3s2uask8]

Brandon,

Yes, that is the team clutch I refered to in a eariler post. *It comes in different jackshaft configruations, this one is for a polaris 1" shaft that is keyed. *Skidoo, newer Polaris have splined shafts, so it depends on what type of jackshaft you are going to use. *I would use the one your looking at (keyed shaft) as the RPM transmission uses the 1" keyed shaft. *The current helix IMO is not what you want, you can puchase helix's from Team, now it is not the ramp angle that is not right or wrong but the helix is a "ER" helix designation. *ER means electronic reverse and it has a notch cut out of the Encapsulated area so the rollers to go into a lock in position. *The rollers lock in the reverse area so the clutch does not go into a "higher gear" ration when traveling in reverse. *If you purchase this clutch you could use it to see if the ramp angle is close to what you want, but when you jump the buggie, the movable sheve will "slam" into the reverse lock out much like the Arctic Cat clutch does. - hope this make sense -

Hi Wayne thanks for the info I don't much about sled drivetrain do you know of a place I can get a clutch that is the right one? Do you have a idea of what helix I would need. Also are most stock secondary clutches made for reverse or is there a stock one I could use Thanks

OK Brandon. Before you buy something that may not work I'll offer you the clutches, belt and pipe from the 617 I have listed for $250 + shipping. I see your in Ohio so shipping shouldn't be more than $30. The clutches are in good working condition (2117 miles) and calibrated to work with your engine but could use a cleaning. The Rotax clutches are very tough and these TRA primary's are being used by many racers with other brands because of their tuneability. This primary also has provisions for a ring gear and your engine has them for a starter on the crankcase under the exhaust so you could add e-start in the future. The secondary is also adjustable to compensate for belt wear. With a single pipe you don't want to run your engine at more than 7750rpms or you will lose hp very fast. These clutches are set for that RPM. The stock setup for your engine will be the easiest to get dialed initially. *The belt and pipe are in good condition. If the pipe doesn't fit you may be able to cut it either staight or at angles so you can rotate the pieces to make it fit. That is how Aaen and many others build their pipes. I added some pics of them so if you want them let me know. 262-767-9023

Brandon,

Yes that clutch on E-bay will work and what I would want IMO. *About the ramp angle I don't know with your application. *IF you purchased it, try it and see about the angle, just keep the rear wheels in contact with the ground when testing. *The Helixs' are pretty spendy so check out the 2 angles you have and go from there.

Opsled offered the stock clutches, belt and pipe, if you don't have these it's seems to be a good deal. *The stock primary clutch IS what you ultimately want and it's a great clutch. *The secondary clutch will work, it looks like a button style clutch. *You could wind the spring (torsion function of the clutch) to help it not slam, what I did with the Arctic Cat clutch to minimize the slaming. *I personally have not used a button clutch on a buggie and it might not slam as bad as a roller, think more resistance than a roller style clutch. *Still not a bad place to start you could always go with a Team later. *And the pipe - you need it - It is calabrated for your engine take measurement off it every inch and use it to make a pipe fit your chassie.

I have included some pics of ER, Non ER, and a Cat tower clutch for reference, and here is a web address for the Team clutches where I got the pictures of the helix's.
