I'm continplating what to do about cooling a 700 twin Rotax in my Pilot. I have seen the Pilot rad replaced with a Honda accord or similar rad. I know the Pilot rad will not provide enough cooling however I am looking at retaining it and adding a sled heat exchanger(s) to the system. Has anyone have any experience with this approch.

Over thinking it. Use a civic radiator, will run cool all day long. I suggest NOT using the super cheap single core stockers (30 or less). You can get a dual core, alum radiator for about 100 bucks. Fluidyne makes a killer radiator Fits perfectly on the rear tubes of the pilot frame, their a couple hundred. Fluidyne is what I run in my civic. I believe ATVNut has had success with these. I ran one on my 583 with no troubles.
The heat exchangers are ment to have constant snow slapped against them. They are NOT made for air cooling. In fact, the area of the sled they sit in, sees little air flow. You'll be more than fine with a civic radiator. I believe the accords are far too big. |

I'm using a dual core del sol radiator. It's like 13 inches wide by 17 tall. The heat exchanger will not efficiently transfer heat to the air as they dont have the surface area.

Granted replacing the Pilot rad woulb be the simplest solution, howerver the Pilot Rad and fan are allready *relocated to the top between the tubes. I would like to leave them there and add the heat exchanger as additional cooling. *It would be located were it would get air. The one i have has long fins like a heast sink unlike the standard ones used under a sled .
