Depending on what engine your looking for would narrow your search down to what forum to look in. I have also seen a motorcycle "store" that sells used motors but cant remember the name right now (will post later if it comes to me)
E-bay is fine IF you FOLLOW THESE RULES.#1-Never bid on an engine until you have CLEAR pics of the intake/exhaust ports, engine numbers( have them checked at to local police) and ALL angles of the engine. #2- Never buy one and have it shipped to you ,bid only on ones within driving distance.#3-NEVER pay till you pick it up.Simple and safe that way-usually and cheaper than most any other way.Don't ask why these are my rules.Let's just say I learned the hard way once.
* I have to agree and disagree at the same time on this one. Engines/engine packages CAN be bought, paid for and shipped through ebay without any problems but you DO!! have to be VERY!! carefull. The seller is KEY and you MUST check his feedback. A good seller will post good pics and have a feedback that will back up any representations he makes in the description. I would also recomend to have contact with the seller via phone if you have any doubts. People have time to answer an email question but when you get a chance to talk with them directly over the phone you can weed out a BSer from an honest seller. I sell and ship quit a few sled engines and have never had a problem with an unsatisfied buyer but I take alot of GOOD pics and never try to hide anything. I always put my phone # in the listing so people can call me it they would like. I know it makes a differance to me when I'm buying so I'm sure it also does to others and that's why I do it. * * Proper packing and shipping is not that hard but alot won't take the time to do it so you should ask those types of questions too if you have doubts. Most of my engine packages are shipped in 2 or 3 boxes depending on the engine. A bike engine is going to be harder to ship than a sled engine because it is heavier and heavy but easy to reinstall components like CVT clutches can't be removed to lighten it up. When I ship a sled engine the basic long block will usually be shipped in one box, the assessory components (clutches, fuel system, electrical system, etc) in another and the exhuast, tanks, hoses, etc in a third if nessessary. Heavy boxes, double boxing or crating anlong with foam linings and proper packing gets the job done. * *I would always recomend actually talking with a seller and asking these types of questions if you have ANY doubts and stay away from someone who won't talk with you or gives you answers that you don't like. You can get screwed by anyone but is is harder to get satisfaction from someone you can't look in the eye so you must be more carefull on ebay. * opsled |

Sorry but because of the few bad apples my rules are a necessity 99% of the time.I was referring to bike motors and have no idea how it is on the sled engine side.I do know that adrenalix is a reputable bike motor e-bayer and would be one of the few I trust. As I said and opsled added to,personal contact and many pics will help weed out the totally dishonest.

Also make sure you get a complete kit. By complete I mean everything electrical to make it run (CPU, sensors, wiring harness, switches). These parts are very expensive to get and are some times hard to find. Also get the injectors rail, thottle bodies, air box, covers, and so on. Basicly everthing to make it run. I learned this the hard way because the kit I bought was missing one sensor. Luckly after a few phone calls and a quick post on Suzukihayabasa.org I was able to find a used one for $20.00 (dealer wanted 150.00ish) but it delayed my start up by a few days.
