I'm working on a car for a Mini Baja race. All the cars use 10hp B&S Intek motors, but we can modify them as we see fit. I was wondering if anyone here had advice for building horsepower in these engines.
Thanks for the help. |

Are you working on this car for the Baja SAE competition, or just for fun? *Because if you are planning on competing with it in the Baja SAE series you cannot modify the engine at all.
Otherwise, most people on here do not use industrial engines so advice may be limited. *There aren't really any aftermarket parts available that I know of for the 10hp engine. *Changing the governor setting has the largest effect, but you could always redo the air intake and make a straight pipe for the exhaust, that would help a little. *Also the standard stuff like porting, carb adjustment, etc. can be done but I don't know to what extent or what effect (if any) it will have. |

That company can get lots of power and rpm's out of the engines for race applications, but I don't know how reliable it is. *Definitely not as reliable as a stock engine, but depending on the level of tuning probably still way better than a two smoke engine. |
