well first if you can get a 250lb car with a 100 lb engine your breaking records... *if its air cooled it probbaly will overhet, but it will work as people have done it, the key change the oil a lot....

Hey Bugpac,

Most 2 stroke engines automatically change the engine oil often, as it gets burned in the combustion chamber. * *

Hi Yellowbeard,

You will need to keep that engine in the airflow by offsetting the engine like traditional go-karts do (or the sidewinder mini-buggy by The Edge). *I would recommend you get a CHT gage (cylinder Heat Temperature) to monitor how hot the engine is.

EGT would be faster and more accurate. Also helps with jetting. Any kart place will sell them.

EGT Is a good thing but spendy... keep air moving moving over it and you will be fine but you need to keep CLEAN air over it ...By what I mean by clean is non turbulant air ..you may need to create some air scoops and duct work...It makes for some wild looking buggies...If you check my adventure you'll see what i'm talking about on the 1st page...

Hi bdkw1,

I can't disagree with you. *CHT (Cylinder Head Temperature) does not help carb. tuning much at all

My thought was that a low-cost CHT setup (an analog Pyrometer and a spark plug washer thermocouple) would be a lot less expensive than an EGT gage and probe that are responsive enough to be useful.

My experience with the air cooled Honda Odysseys was that once jetted reasonably well (using plug and piston wash), the CHT setup let the operator know two important things: 1) when the engine was up to operating temp ( so you don't cold seize the engine) and 2) know when the engine in general was heat soaked and still getting hotter.

It can be done with an EGT, but it was more difficult to monitor while driving, as even part throttle will lower the EGT while still adding heat to an overheated engine.
