Default Clutch speed help ??

Hi guys i need some help with my ski doo clutch
I am converting my buggy to Rotax 583 power.
the motor and clutch came from a 1994 formula z
I´m wondering what the rpm off the driven clutch in relation to the motor is.
Some say its the same as the motor, some say 2:1, that is half the motor speed.
I need to be sure so i can figure out my gearing.
Any help would be apresiated Thanks.

You mean the range of reduction??? Most sled clutches go from 4-1 in low ratio to 1-1 maxed out in high.

Some systems WILL over drive the driven clutch (driven faster rpms than the motor/drive clutch) but usually NOT while loaded! (i.e. driving unless geared way too deep.)

What you need to be looking at (IMO) is the gear ratio the sled had from the DRIVENS shaft to the drive bogeys that spun the track. And you need to know the diameter of those drive bogeys.

Those drive wheels are just like the "tire size" the stock sled saw. Those are in effect its "wheels" and what the sled was geared for. The track just increases surface area for flotation/traction.

For easy numbers sake if the track drive wheel was 10 inches in diameter and your tires were gonna be 30 inches you would need a 3 to 1 ratio AFTER the bottom shaft.

If you are not using the sleds gearcase reduction you need to figure/add that in as well. Some use the sleds gearcase cause most sleds (that are not RER) can be gotten with reverse. Which is never bad to have.

Plus you will need deeper gearing yet to deal with the extra weight of a buggy usually.

With a CVT a tad deeper is better than a tad shallow on the gearing.

Thanks for the info guys
I have no idea how big the drive bogeys were, so if the driven clutch is spinning the same rpm as the engine during full throtle i will do the math from there.
I am using the stock forward reverse gearbox that came with the buggy, it has a 2:1 reduction.

Its a single seater , made by i think Kingkaid ?(chinese)
came with a 250cc motor, but with the exsperinse i cathered over the years (last project a freands 1977 trans am ) and by pulling the gearbox apart i think it should be able to handle it.
The axles are 1" and cv joints are probably from a small car.

belt position on the sheaves will determine how fast the secondary is turning.
