Default cbr1000rr

Looking for a motor to put in a piranha i am building. was going for a gsxr 1000 but found a 2007 cbr1000rr with 15,000 miles for 499 what do you think of this motor also found a 2006 r1 with 5000 for 799 let me know your opinions

I think it would depend on what comes with each engine before I could make a decision.

Are they complete engines? - or should I say "power packages"?

You'll need the entire bike wire harness, intake system (throttle bodies, airbox, sensors), exhaust, ECU. Pretty much if it's attached to the engine or makes it work in any way, then you want it.

It's easy to take things out (signals, lights, etc.), but sometimes trying to get everything that's needed, if it can't be purchased in one shot, can be a challenge. Look at the thread where the guy has the Gixxer 750 engine and ended up with a 600 computer. You can see the issues he's having to deal with.

Either one of those would probably be just fine if you can get everything you need. If one has more than the other, as far as what comes w/it, then that's the unit I'd consider.

lets say both come with everthing i basically wanted to know if those motors will be as good or close to the gsxr.basically will i be happy putting any 1000 motor in my piranha

I'd be looking at the R1. They seem to be put in everything.

Nothing against the Honda at all (hey, it's a Honda!), but it just seems that there's more available and more stuff done w/the R1.

I could be very wrong on that idea, though...
