well i just got my machine to be extremely reliable so maybe i shouldnt mess with it till i get some problems!
plus cost is a huge factor.
now i have a problem i went out and rode for a few hours today and then came to a stop and turned the kill switch to off yet the motor didnt stop just kept running.. is this a 2 stroke thing? is it just burning off whats in the bottom of the bowl on the carb or??? then i blipped the gas and it bogged down and died, but it started right back up. any ideas what it is?

If a motor runs on after you kill the ignition its usually called "dieseling" cause its running with out a spark plug so to speak.

This is usually caused by a VERY hot motor and the tip of the spark plug or a bit of carbon in the cylinder is soooooooooo hot its igniting the gas mixture and making the "spark" this way.

Its not something you want to be happening. It is many times a sign somethings not quite right as its not supposed to happen.

I see your in Nevada but bau if you machines jetted for 90 plus degrees and its reallly colder now the jetting may be lean and making it run hot.

The carbon may be from the former owner never running hard IF thats the case.

When you shut it off did it run really smooth still or sputter a bit and miss any till you gassed it to kill it?

no it runs perfectly smooth!
so i should maybe get one jet bigger?
my question is when i did a plug chop during the summer after it did the not dieing when turned off, my plug was a rootbeer brown which is the color you want but near the bottom was black, so it was a two toned plug not rootbeer brown all the way.
ill do some more cuz now we are having some good temp changes! i thought the problem had to do with me running too hot!!

It might be running to hot. If its jetted lean for summer for max power then as the air gets colder it gets leaner and can cause issues if you do not richen the jetting.

its just weird cuz i havent messed with the jetting and its always done this. in winter up in the snow and also in the summer. could it be that i changed the plug wire?

I aint saying its NOT the plug wire but I would think its something inside the cylinder thats causing the dieseling.

so a rebuild would probably be the best diagnoses?
or are there any other ways to find the problem?

You can pop the pipe off and look up in the cylinder for any signs of something wrong for starters. Sometimes its that easy. Thast the best way to see without $$ gaskets you may not have. The head off would be the next option at the cost of a gasket.

Do you know the compression this thing has right now in PSI? (Seems I asked this but maybe not and I have brain farts at times cause I ask it a lot. Of most who have any two stroke issue)

no i havent and not sure on the psi ill go pick up a gauge tomorrow! and i think that looking into the cylinder through the exaust would be tough cuz of the seat placement. so taking off the head would be next! ill do a compression check tomorrrow they should be right around 130 to 145 correct? could it be something with the carb since right when i tap the gas it dies?
