The 2008 Lisbon dakar rally due to start today (5th) has been canceled due to terrorist threats, It seems there were four french people killed In Africa on the 24th of December.
I feel for the privateers who have scraped together the money to do this event and will get very little money back.
They were only informed yesterday.

Too bad, I also especially feel for the privateers who have struggled more than financially to to make the starting line.
I was really looking forward to the race, I had never imagined it would be cancelled, and then just 24 hours before scheduled start...
Too bad that terrorists want to/can spoil an event like this!
