Default Site Migration Complete (working on issues)

OK, it was a little more painful then I thought. However it is now 10:30 and the database has been imported. Out of 2300 uploaded files (user pics and other) only 26 failed to import correctly. I'll have those back in tomorrow after I figure out what caused them to be dropped. I'm sure it was something in the name that the script didn't like.

Some of you will see topic titles a little messed up. It will look like this

Some Topic"Title"my"log

If it is your project thread then edit it and fix the title. There are not that many of these so it's not a big issue. Again this happend because a special charecter was used in the tilte and the import script replaced it with ".

If anyone finds a bug please let me know ASAP.

I like it too.

I scrolled down to read Bedo's post and noticed the Quick Reply field open and waiting.

I'll look at another post to see what it does but thought it unusual since I did not click reply.

After submitting this post I received this error message:

Could not connect to smtp host : 111 : Connection refused

DEBUG MODE

Line : 114
File : smtp.php

Then came back to this post to edit. The Quick Reply field was again waiting. Then I submitted again and got no error message.

I don't know if it's my FIOS connection today, or the site, but it's dreadfully slow. Yahoo checks mail and loads twice as fast (or more) than any page on this site will load.

I shut the quick reply off...slows down reading the last post.

The View posts since last visit doesn't work. It came up blank each time I used it, even though there were new posts.

Three posts in a row, and they do post, but instead of a good page afterwards, I get this warning:

Could not connect to smtp host : 113 : No route to host

DEBUG MODE

Line : 114
File : smtp.php

I agree... dreadfully slow. *Not complaining * *Buyt I will definately be looking forward to the new server.

The View posts since last visit worked for me a couple of times now.

Can't say I am a fan of either of the skins. *A little too mellow for my viewing preferences. *Blue text over gray kind of melts in for old eyes. *

Yes, slow.

Don't mind the color...as long as it's not black, I'm ok.

My View Posts Since Last Visit now works.

The Quick Reply no longer works, and I've tried a variety of settings.

Slow I know, pissing me off to no end. Not you guys, our hosting company. The lag has nothing to do with the site build and everything to do with the host. Most of my day has been spent on the phone troubleshooting with the provider we "were" going to be moving to. Currently I have 7 sites hosted there on two separate servers. One server is lagging out with long load times. The other server loads pages up in 1.2 seconds or less which is reasonable for shared hosting environments. They will not however move the other domains over to the good server.

So, I've been looking at dedicated servers but at $79 (cheapest, not the best) a month that's a lot $$ for me to cover. I did find a new product that was just released by Media Temple called the Grid server/plan. It's $20 a month with significant offerings as far as GPU usage, bandwidth and storage. As always though I fear this new service will start out great then they will over sell and the whole "Grid" will slow to a snails pace. If I up the cost to $33 a month then we can go with a virtual dedicated server (less users per machine) which would guarantee at least a decent page load time with no worries about the host over selling.

Dedicated would be the way to solve all problems. Page generation times would be sub 1 sec... I fired off a script today that continuously checked page load times of five sites including GD.com. GD was the best with a .87 sec. average load time. A close second was our business site at 1.2 sec. load time. This site averaged 2.3 seconds across a five hour period. That means at 25 - 30% of those page loads were 4 seconds or more. That's horrible to say the least.

I have to think on all this... Either way we will be moving to a more stable provider and platform.

SITE COLORS....

The site colors is a non issue and can be fixed, it's just a theme. I'll get a few options and turn on user theme selection once the graphics have been modified. It will be limited to three maybe four options at most. Each mod requires theme edits and to continuously make those edits each upgrade or patch is not fun. Look for new color choices by this weekend.

Thank you all for your understanding as I muddle my way through this mess. Upgrading the site was/is mandatory and not an option. The old version of phpBB we were using was outdated with many vulnerabilities.
