Default Site Migration 2100 PST (Sneak Peak)

Wednesday at 2100 PST (9:00 PM Pacific Standard Time) Minibuggy.Net (MBN) will be offline for two hours while the database is migrated to the new content management system.

MBN will now be utilizing Nuke-Evolution with phpBB2 built in as our platform of choice. Some of the old mods will naturally not make the move with us. Don’t fret; many new features are taking the place of those that are dropped. The new site is a far better platform for MBN to grow and offer even more services for all you mini-buggy nuts.

Forums - attachments (unchanged)
Forums - Spellchecker
Front side portal
Reviews section
News section
Content section (vendor/fabricator interviews)
User submission of news and reviews
New Downloads section with user submission tool
New Links section with user submission tool (Still need to add the rest of the Yoshi thread)
Classifieds section (open to all, vendors and MBN members alike)
New Banner control system
New logo
New theme (very much like this one but cleaner I think)

I could go on and on, just scratching the surface with what we can do with the site now. If anyone would like to take a sneak peak, please feel free to play around. All current MBN members should be able to login and make post. Don’t bother to post since they will all be deleted before the final move tomorrow night. Below is the temp link.

The current forum data (users and posts) is there as of 1000 PST this morning. It was a dry run so I could see the exceptions from the migration script. Almost all the data was carried over except a few attachments due to weird filenames. For the exceptions I've created a separate script to correct the filenames and remove the special characters causing the filenames to be rejected. Don't worry about the avatars and attachments (uploaded images); I have not copied the physical files over to the test site. Everything will be migrated tomorrow night when we make the final move.

A lot of testing has been done to make sure everything is working once the site has been cutover. However, with all new systems there will be a few bugs that will need tweaking once we are using the system. Just let the admin team know about the issue and if an error message is generated please include it as well. Your patients and continued support of MBN us most appreciated. It's all the wonderful fabricators here that have made MBN what it is today.

Regards,

Rusty

EDIT: Already got a PM... When I say "Don't bother to post since they will be deleted" I was refering to the temp site. Any new post or threads here will be transfered tomorrow night...

Just a heads up, but I noticed that if I got to Projects in progress and click on page 15 in my project it takes me to page 1 instead of page 15.

Any plans to add more emoticons to the site? I see they are now blue instead of yellow on this site. I enjoy the ability to express myself with a larger choice of smilies. We have all seen the confusion and frustration when someone doesn't get the point we are trying to make--especially when there is sarcasm involved.

Both Glamis Dunes[/url:1oup6x1n] and Pirate 4X4[/url:1oup6x1n] have a nice selection. It also makes reading the forum more animated and a bit more fun to read.

KWiKSand, not sure why you're having that problem. I can see all 15 pages of your project thread by clicking on "15" or cycling through the whole thread. Might have to clear your cookies when going from this site to the temp site. They both use the same cookie names which could cause a conflict.

Philabuster, smilies are easy to add and will be updated as we go along.

Thanks guys...

Interesting... so no one else is seeing this then? (see attached avi)

I will wait until the site comes out for real before trying clearing my cookies. Way to many passwords etc to loose by clearing things out.

Default Kwik's posts

I went through all 15 pages. Maybe I would have seen pics if I cleared cookies but I don't know. Pics did not show even though I right clicked and said show pic.

bugpac, LOL I just pulled some random pics from the uploads to make that. Flash isn't one of my strong points and I sort forced that one together. Looks crappy IMHO.

Once the new site is up I'll post a request for pics to be included in a new version. One pic per person an I'll leave the thread open for 4 days. Everyone who submits a pic gets included.

I'm going to drop the database now on the new site and get it ready to import the final data from here later tonight. So if anyone missed the preview you'll get a chance tonight to preview it as long as you want....
