Default 401-k retirement plans, what does it all mean?

Retirement plans compared...

If you had purchased $1000.00 of Nortel stock one year ago, it would now be worth $49.00.
With Enron, you would have $16.50 left of the original $1000.
With WorldCom, you would have less than $5.00 left.
If you had purchased $1000.00 of Delta Air Lines stock you would have $49.00 left.
If you had purchased United Airlines, you would have nothing left.

But, if you had purchased $1000.00 worth of beer one year ago, drank
all the beer, then turned in the cans for recycling, you would have $214.00.

Based on the above, the best current investment advise is
to drink heavily and recycle.

This is called the 401-Keg Plan.

Note: I almost put this in the "The joke box" but its sadley not becoming a joke. I do not drink but saw this and heisted it for those who can relate! lol Bill

Enron BAD! Lost lots of money when they went belly up - and I was going through a divorce. We froze all our assets and didn't sell in time.
Damn, damn, damn!

Ouch.

I didn't have anything with Enron. But the whole cloud that they cast brought some good comapnies down with them. Any hint of account troubles and stock plummeted, regardless of the companies bottom line. I wish I remember who I bought...

Take a look at FRE. Will the govt really let Freddie go under? Could be a great bargain, or a bust. It's always a gamble.
