If you didn't see it in a previous post then go to www.cmooreoffroad.com and give us your thoughts?I was looking at it for a new race buggy but it;s a little big to run in the pilot class, close but kind of border line....

Perhaps it is just me - are you in fact CMORROFFROAD.COM? All right. Maybe not.
The web site looks good. Only two cars to show indicates how long they've been in business - which is not to say that the car better or worse than other builders. From what I've seen in the few pictures - compared to what I know from my own rebuild, these are worth a look. I'm sure K-Fab is applying CVT jelly right now . . . |

No I'm not c moore off road,I do always look to see what is out there in the pilot size class though.I race pilots and would like something new but small enough to race in the pilot class. As far as the pilot class rules go,we kind of let people run what evev so that we can have enough to race.Alot of guys are going to sled engines so I'm trying to decide if I want to invest into my own or get something new.Seems like everything is geared towards sand and it gets harder and harder to find stadium lite type buggies.Do any of you guys have some other sights to check out?I looked at the drakarts but I have a few freinds that have them and said that they would never get one again...

I don't know of any small buggies out there except for the disposable ones from Asia and the "All American" ones that are actually made in S. America.
What were the complaints you heard about the Drakarts? Handling or reliability, or...? |

Some of the complaints have to deal with things that might not of been done right.I know that they have a hard time with parts *also.I don't want to talk bad about any builds,I myself have never drove a drak.I do know from my freinds that have them said that things weren't to there liking.I know that even though one of my freinds has owned a few of them that he had to re do alot of things.I will just leave it at that.I was trying to decide on what class the c moore buggy would run in and as far as size goes it might need to run against the tornado, but the Tornado is running the hayabusa engine.Call me crazy but I don't think that would be a good match up......

The original "Lites" class rules were fairly tight. *They were developed from the old Mickey Thompson Grand Prix series.
Since the Lites of then were all based on the 350 Oddy, they sort of fell into that general spec for the machines. In the effort to keep smaller single seat buggies around and racing, a lot of the sanctioning bodies have opened up the rules a bit - larger engines, slightly longer chassis, etc. *Unfortunately, that's lead to a very wide interpretation of the rules and you can find someone that will let you run what ever it is that you have somewhere... If people are going to start manufacturing a car similar to the Draks, Redlines, CMoores, etc., it would be nice if the mfgs could get together and set some sort of guidelines to follow, thus allowing more and more vehicles to fit the general rules and make for some good racing. *They need to specify a footprint size and an engine limit. *Engine is a bit harder to control - there are 1000cc engines that don't put out squat and 600's that rip. *I believe it should be limited more by STOCK engine HP and then offer a modified class to let the wrench-heads run hopped up power plants. Drakarts have gone through major changes over the past 7-8 years (basically since Alain brought them to the States from France). * I cannot speak for/about any of the newer Draks, as I have absolutely NO experience with them, but the first generation of Drak sucked. *Flimsy chassis, poor suspension design, no double shear on suspension mounts, vibrated themselves to death, horrible axle plunge, cv eating, tranny toasting. *I hated the car with a passion - to the point that I would refuse to drive one and would not have taken one if it had been given to me. *Then again, back then Alain and I didn't get along at all, so I was very biased on my point of view. Now the Draks are a damn good car - at least from what I understand. *I know a few guys that own them and love them. *The newer generation Draks have become well sorted out and appear to work well. *I have still heard of some reliability issues, but I can't put my fingers on any specific points. * Then again show me any car that gets tortured like we do to our rides and not have some sort of issue on occasion. *I'm one of the worst for breaking my four wheeled stuff.

Actually it's 100% accurate! I said I didn't know of any small buggies out there except for the disposable ones from Asia and the "All American" ones. I wasn't aware of the Red Line buggy and I wouldn't put the Ridge Runner in the same category as the Pilot and Drakart anyway. |
