Oregon Dunes - July 21-27 - Coos Bay

Thought I'd throw it out there. . . gonna head up North this summer. *We've been going to St. Anthony the last couple years so, it is time for an Oregon visit again. *The last trip was. . . memorable (see story below). *

I think Lyndon (another Tom Pro Rail Guy - his has about 600HP!!!) will meet up with me out there. *

Let me know if you want to try to hook up for a day. *I'll be with the rest of my group but, would like to hit the dunes on a group ride once or twice! *

Ok. . . her is my Oregon Dunes trip story from Summer 2004:
Drove from Sacramento to Southern Oregon Friday night. *Next morning we finish the trip to Coos Bay. *At Eugene I make my first morning deposit in what ended up being a Shart fest. . . yep. . . developed a case of the "pass-right-through-me's" *and I mean something fierce! *Couldn't sleep at all the first night. *

Went out on a dune ride (didn't have the rail then - was on my DS650) come down a hill and hit a rut and over the bike goes. *Get her back up quickly but, the flag broke off. *Now I'm struggling to get it back on and have to crouch down to work on the flag holder. . . everytime I do that I'm puckering as tight as I can to avoid some major embarrassment. *Called it quits and head back to camp. *Next morning the Wife goes to town and buys some of that Imodium. . . OMG. . . HELLO - like a giant cork. . . all is good down under again! *I was so cleaned out I don't think I went for another 3-days. . .

Ok, now that problem is solved. . .

Ended up getting stuck another time and burnt my leg on my exhaust trying to get un-stuck. *

Another day. . . another crash. . . this time I had my HELMET CAM on. . . yep. . . got the whole thing on video. *Just a little roll. *No carnage. . . all of the sudden the video sees blue sky. *Scratch up my shin on the foot pegs. . . helmet cam is fine. *

Last day - (by this time my legs are pretty beat-up) clutch cable breaks. *

And to top it all off. . . .on the way back to camp a bee stings me on the leg as I'm riding. *At this point I literally break out laughing. *What do you do? *

Can't wait to go back this year! *(Now you know why we've gone to St. Anthony the last two-years!

Sounds like it was fun, lol. I haven't had any bad crashes at the dunes, no roll overs. I've never actually crashed hard enough to throw me off. I think that I'm heading down to winchester in late june, early july, or in august. I'll have to see. Hopefully I will have my buggy done by then. Won't have much time before I'm off to college!
