I love the Phoenix area. *There is a HELL of a lot more going on there than Yuma. *It's got great night life, really friendly people, good riding, a ton of lakes with good fishing anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour away, relatively cheap housing, and a booming job market (except for what I do!!!). *Traffic isn't too bad and everything is new: highways, houses, schools, parks, etc. *The NW suburb called Peoria is really nice. *Not as expensive as Scottsdale (the ritzy area), and everything is less than 15 years old. *That's where I lived for 2.5 years. *I would move back if I could. *Also, the summers aren't really that bad. *You just have to spend a lot of time around water. *Pools and lakes are in abundance as well as the Salt River, where there are more drunk college girlies without tops than with tops!!!!! *(MMMMM......boobs......sorry had a moment there *
) *But the summers are definately hot though. *AC is a must and I would highly recomend a white truck ( I have a black one...oops) and a nice remote start is a must. *I used to walk out the door, press a button, my truck would fire up with the AC blasting, I would walk back inside, wait 5 minutes, and then go get into my nice 65* truck. *Trust me, it's worth the $250 or so. * Unless you make $200K a year steer clear of SoCal. *I could buy a castle in Phoenix for what a two bedroom single bath 1300sqft. condo costs where I live. |

I live in Orange County...its great other than the cost of living. *Roughly 4 hours to Glamis (depending on traffic, what your towing if you are towing and what holiday), 3 hours to Ocotillo, 1.5 hours to Lacurne/Barstow area for wide open desert, 3 hours to the river, 2.5 hours to Mexico, 25 minutes to the beach, 1 hour from the mountains, 10 minutes to the 91 freeway parking lot...the WORST place in the world and the only place that can have 900,000 cars stop to watch someone change a tire, way to much in morgage and rent, $100 to fill up my diesel....I'd move to AZ but all of my family and my fiance's family are here which makes it a little hard to leave *[smilie=banghead.gif]

we're just a few miles east of knoxville tn. *except for the military and a year i lived in s.c., been here my whole life. *very hilly and mountainous here. *all the old trails, when i was riding dirt bikes as a teen, are now big subdivisions. but, since the advent of the ATV, 4 seperate large trail systems has emerged. *for a total of, 200,000+ acres, 2000 miles of trails. *from easy dirt/gravel roads, to some of the most extreme trail riding available. * and all 4 trail systems can be accessed from each other. *i know of no one that has ridden all trails. *also, within 4 hours diviing time, there are another 6 trail systems.
problem is, there are no buggy dealers around here, except a few used car lots selling the chinese go karts. *a good woods buggy, with some utility genes in its blood, would be a great selling item. *the rhinos are just now really taking off. * i love the area here, it's home, but, *i've always wanted to ride the dunes. *since the old manx dune buggy days, *i've dreamed of jumping a dune. *ah, some day....

I have lived all over the USA: San Antonio, Texas * Albany, New York * St Louis, *Ft Walton Beach, Florida, *Miami, Florida, *Columbus, Ohio, *Santa Monica, California, Detroit, Michigan *Champaign-Urbana, Illinois *Ogden, Utah and I would live where I live now, Canyon Lake California *
We were lucky to find Canyon Lake, California about eleven years ago. I am seven miles from my factory so I do not have to deal with any traffic. Canyon Lake is the largest private community in the USA. It is like living at Club Med without the tourists. We have BLM land that adjoins Canyon Lake that runs along the San Joaquin River so we have a great place to drive our sandrails. My family and I live on the water and have a power boat, 18 foot Hobie-cat on our dock and our own private beach. It is like being on vacation year round. It is the safest community in California. Many people do not even lock their house. We can be in the mountains in three minutes riding our sandrail with my boys and ride on hundreds of trails that go on forever. There are trails all over Lake Elsinore as well. *Our daytime temperatures is 65-90 in the winter and *80-110 in summer and it is dry heat. We could do with more rain. We are 3.5 hours to Glamis, 1.5 hours (85 miles) to *San Diego or LA or the Ocean or Big Bear. You can go water skiing the same day you can go snow skiing. The people and weather are the best things about Southern California. Riding is year round. *Here is a good link to Canyon Lake: http://gate88.com/sun/hotlinks/intro.htm www.cityofcanyonlake.com/ www.canyonlake.us Some more info from Canyon Lake Website: A well-manicured par-71, 5,868-yard 18 hole private golf course that offers all the challenges any longer course might have. The picturesque, tree-lined, 75-acre course has reachable greens and trimmed fairways and could appear at first to be a low-score paradise for golfers. However, its uphill, downhill and sideways lies make the course more imposing and challenging. On the golf course is our Country Club Restaurant overlooking the greens. An Equestrian Center that features a barn with 17 stalls and community room where horse owners can gather for meetings or socialize. There are outside pipe corrals with covered breezeways. The facility includes a show-riding arena, a jump arena, turn out arena, a hot walker, and double wash rack. The center also has a covered patio with picnic tables and access to riding trails. A newly constructed lodge facility with a lake front restaurant, meeting rooms and performance stage. Plus a state of the art swimming facility on the premises. 7 1⁄2 acre private Campground with 90 campsites. All sites have level pads. 37 sites have complete hook-ups for water, sewer, electric, and TV and 53 sites have water and electric. There are complete facilities with showers, restrooms, washers, dryers, and ice. The camp has 5 docks that can hold 45 boats. There is a 350 feet long beach for swimming. The Campground also includes swings, horseshoe pits, and a volleyball court. Hey my wife sells real-estate so give us a call if you are thinking of moving out our way. Sean |
