What would it cost MBN members monthly to host them on your own server?

Let me look into it - I really want to keep this place commercial free but I do foot the bill of about 1400 a year to run it.

I'm thinking if each member paid a buck or two it would cover it.

Guess I could set up a PayPal account for MBN and then have the server get paid from that.

Let's wait until the Guru gets things dialed in, hopefully the end of the month.

Ya I was just curious, I run my own website and host my own pics. Cost me about $15 a month right now. Once the sites released and I acquire more members i know the cost is gonna go up. If you hosted them yourself you could cut out PB completely and still charge a fee. Just my 2cents. I know you guys will figure out something
Getting your own sever might even be an idea.

Just talked to my server; Between the two sites that they host (MBN and YDR) for me I've used 39% of the available 150 Gig.

I figure if this site, which is going on 10yrs (or more) old has only used that much, we should be good.

This includes the photos that were stored on the forum prior to the vB upgrade.

I'll ask the Guru to set it up so that MBN will host pix for the members. I've played around with my pix over the years and it seems that resizing to 800 x 600 (or 600 x 800) gives the best bang for the buck. I'll ask the Guru to try to set it up so that pix get automatically formatted to those dimensions.

We'll see what happens with storage space as this gets implemented.

So now I'll ask the users of MBN - would you be willing to pay a couple bucks to help with the costs of this place? Especially if we can host pix for MBN (let's not use MBN as a host for all pix, like Photobucket).

I'm open to thoughts and comments.

btw @ bdkw1 - It was Firefox, not Netscape that I was using. Google now, with patch, and I can see pix!

I'm in for the donation. I might even go back and fix what I can in the Midi thread.

Hey, I gave up the flip phone, you can move up to a browser from this decade..........

Let me get things fixed and running first then I'll put together a PayPal account just for MBN. I'll put a donate spot on the home page when it's done.

    I like the donate part.
What about a limit, then maybe annual membership.
Same limit on for sale section.

Don't want to limit guys from posting pics on builds cause we all love pics. But also understand $$$ has limits.
