Very cool vid. Does anybody know if that helmet is on the market, or if this is only a demonstraion of what is possible with the machine.

It seems to me that some of the benefit of a helmet comes in the flexing of the shell. I would be curious to see a side by side comparision of the protective qualities of a standard helmet vs. this awesome display of machine technology. A cost comparision would be useful as well.

I'm pretty sure that the point was only to show the capabilities of the machine. You are correct, a rigid aluminum helmet would not do well for impact absorption and therefore not really make sense.

FWIW. That is a 6-axis machine. Very nice. Id be willing to bet that the program was generated from a Scan of the helmet that it replicated. You can even see the detail in the fabric texture area where if it were functional, the fabric would be.

The guys at the shop and myself got a real kick out of it. Thanks for sharing.

I would want it because it is art. No other reason.

I can't afford it, just want it.
