Sorry to missrepresent this post, but I need input from the bigger guys on this one. I knew this heading would get the info I need. I'm a big guy, 6'5" and aROUND 340lbs. I looked at the Pilots (too small) I've looked at a couple sets of plans. Here's my problem, I really like the Revolt XL and I only want a single seat buggy. I'm just worried I will not fit in it either. info on how big you are if you are a revolt owner and how well you fit would be great.. I know I should build my own buggy but I just don't have the time, energy, tools, space, or patience to build one and I'm worried about what I would really have when I was done, as I have never tried anything near this scale. So what I'm looking for are some of the big guys to help me with thier sugestions and ideas of how to get 10lbs of crap in a 5 lbs bag. thanks guys |

No free cheeseburgers??? Poof on this I'm outa here!!!!
Seriously. I am 6 foot 2 inch and 280 so I kinda feel your pain. MOST VW raisl my head is alongside the bars. You Do have an issue being as big as the Lord made yah. Heres a question most will need answered. What are you able to spend? A two seater chassis with only one seat in the middle and steering in the center with a bike or sled motor would be my first look at from the guys who build proven rails.

I'll spend what I have too. If I go the revolt way I'm looking at 15k, soooo in for a pint in for a pound. I'd hate to spend that much but, I hate even more to spend half that and then be unhappy with what I have.

I doubt the Revolt will fit you.
Bill hits on the answer again! I'm thinking if the Edge Barracuda would be big enough, find a completed one for sale. But, again, I doubt it's big enough. But a 2 seater switched over to a 1 seater shouldn't cost a bunch, and there would be plenty of elbow room. Getting to and from the seat might be tricky.

What kind of motor power are you wanting? I have seen two Revolts at Silver Lake and was not overly impressed by the so called 80 HP they claim they make.
For less than $15000 you can get a long travel RZR type vehicle and I have seen some guys in those a lot bigger than me (both taller and heavier). Easy to get in and out too. Or do you realllly want the buggy look? I would talk to the builders on this site. If you don't need or want balls out HP sitting in the engine bay one of them could set you up right and likely for less than ($$) or equivelent to the Revolt but a MUCH better machine.

I want something that will at least keep up with a quad on the sand, if it's a little faster that's even better. (Raptor 700)
I really do want the buggy look. I also want to beable to use ATV tires and rims I looked at a few Knock Down kits at Larry's off-road a couple weeks ago. They were alot cheaper to do, but not what I was looking for. I always hated Speed Buggy. That Beam Front end is all I can see. Plus I had a 73 Super Beatle back in the day, I'm done with VW stuff forever. Trailer hauling is also a consideration. I don't want to have to break out a 16' tandom to go down to KY for an afternoon. Being large and Ogresk is a real PITA. Building is looking more and more realistic. The mechanics I can handle. It's the Fab part that scares me |

A good rider on a raptor 700 can be tough to catch.
Is reverse a must? I am guessing you are looking for more of a woods/trail buggy than a sand rail? Or more sand? Sinister SR1 for sale That would keep up with a Raptor! :] But it uses bigger than ATV tires/rims. Yoshis also selling this one for a tad more. But if you ever needed apart hes a phone call away. New SR2 powdercoated roller, $17,349

He's not really a great rider, He's fat, and old.
Reverse is not a must. At least not at first. I've looked around enough to set up an electric reverse down the road if it became an issue. And yes it would be more of a woods trail buggy |

Buying one now means you can ride it soon(er). Building one takes the time and each person is different depeding on how often they get to work on it and how complex the machine is.
Are they any plans you have looked at you like?

I don't mind the time thing too much, I play out in the garage every night anyway. I would like to ride it next summer though.
So far I have liked the Panther plans the best. I really like the look of the frame. I'm not real impressed with the brakes. The drive system and the rear trailing arms look kinda weak to me also. I know I can do splined shafts, but I haven't seen much to address the brakes or trailing arms. |
